Following a couple of attempts to rehome Ben, without luck, we've decided to let him stay in our pack.  I've spoken to Margaret and she's happy for us to do this.

At least now I can get down to doing some training with him, something I didn't want to do too much of as I didn't know what potential owners would want to use him for.

Hopefully next time you see him he'll be a bit calmer and under better control than he was at Le Weekend.

I had a feeling that he was going to stay, somehow.  It was something to do with the looks on Edna and Hayley's faces that made me think that.

Who is Ben?

Ben is a now a seven month old Brittany who was in his third home when I got a call from Margaret, asking if I could pick him up as the couple who had him couldn't cope (they only live 10 minutes from us).

The couple who had him were in their mid 70s, the man has arthritis and the woman just couldn't walk a bouncy Brittany.  Hayley and I went to pick him up and the people seemed genuinely sorry to see him go, but realised it was best for both them and the dog.  They still phone each week to find out how he's getting on.

He's a hard running, headstrong dog, who's going to take some work but I think he has working potential.  At the club weekend he did a short retrieve on a cold partridge and entered the water with no encouragement but he's doing it for himself at the moment.  He's really independent so I've got to work at making him want to work with and for me.

Lucky Ben, he is a nice dog John and so keen - I am sure he will soon learn what is expected of him.

My mum doesn't want to admit it, but she loves him really and she would have been sad to see him go! Rolling Eyes Wink
