How many of you also have Pedigree cats and /or breed them?
I am very fond of cats and just like a pure bred dog with papers, I like to know what I am going to end up with. even with my cats, horses etc...
Like Sue, I have an Ocicat, she is gorgeous, and absolutely what they say they are in the book. she is my perfect cat. Very Happy
I paid as much money for this cat as I would for a puppy( my choice). And I have to notify the breeder of her spaying with a sheet to tell her. This kitten is on the Non active register which means her progeny will NEVER be registered. If I wanted a breeding queen, I would have to  simply pay...double...
Now, what if it was the same in dogs? What do people think????
Would it slow down poor breeding?

The other thing that I think the cat world has right......

Neutered Cats can be shown in their own classes so people who enjoy showing (ok not sure enjoy was the word for my Maine Coon showing days but you get my drift) are not penalised in any way for having a neuter.

So an entire cat can be made Champion, a neutered cat aims to be a Premier, so any coat changes etc would be judged against like.

My Ocicat and my Maine Coon both cost the same as puppies, both were great individuals and whilst I know where one is now I sadly will never know what happened to my lovely silver ocicat Crying or Very sad .
