This seems such a friendly board and I'm happy to join!
We are British, but have lived in Canada for the last few years where we finally acquired a Brittany. I had always worked full time, as well as having two small kids, so it was never the right moment to get a dog. When we moved abroad I had all the time in the world on my hands (kids at school, no job) and so Scout came into our lives.
This spring we unexpectedly got posted back to the UK (we had gone overseas with my husband's job) so we have had an agonising 6 month wait for Scout to follow us. He's had a whale of time, living with our breeder up country in Ontario, but we have missed him. He finally arrives on 1st October (providing the paperwork goes OK!) and we can't wait to see him.
I knew plenty of other Brittany folks in Canada, where they are a much more popular breed (but still not for the faint-hearted, or those who don't like walking!); although we are living in SE London I would love to know if there are any other Brittany owners near me, and if anyone has any thoughts on agility (which we were about to start in Canada, before we moved) I would so appreciate it.
We live in Royston which is around 40 miles north of London, we go to a training class in Ware on a Thursday evening. If you want just agility go onto Agility.net and you will hopefully find a list of classes near where you live.
Welcome aboard.....where about in Ontario did you live as I was in Hamilton for 3 years when I was a bit younger.

Hi rachieh, welcome to the forum. I think you're right it is a friendly place. Like many gatherings of friends it can sometimes seem a bit rowdy, to those you don't know us. Glad you have managed to see past this and joined us anyway. It would be nice to see some pics of Scout and to here about your time with him in Canada. _________________ My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.
It just so happens I will be in SE21 on Thursday evening - with the crew on board. there is a great little park - Belair that I thought i might take them to ( I used to live up the road so a little trip down memory lane for me :-)
Richmond Park is a must see for you and a Brittany - the deer are pretty used to dogs :-)
Failing that I am an hour and 10 mins by car away - always happy to meet Brittanys, there are about half a dozen around here now. Santiago - another member on here is in London, not quite sure where; do a member search and pm him.

Well, small world ... Belair is my local park which I will be visiting twice daily. We're handy for Dulwich Woods too so plan to do lots of running there.

I lived in Oakville - so not far from Hamilton but might as well be a world away. I'm from South Wales originally, and urban London is home now, so the suburban life of Oakville was a bit of a step ... we were glad to come home!
Scout came from Hiddencreek Kennel - Barb Brownridge is a lovely woman with great dogs. He's been living there with her since March - I snuck in to see him in August when we were back in Canada briefly and he was beside himself to see me. He is a gorgeous beast although still young (two next month) and pretty unruly!
Welcome to you and your Brittany...It is amazing how small the world becomes when you have one of those dogs!
Everyone near by will always be happy to speak dogs and meet you if you live in that general area.
There are many Nationalities even in the little UK,for one a gentleman who is in Peterborough, is American with a ...French brittany...
And many others...

I have an appointment at 6.15 - say that takes an hour, I should be in Belair at about 7.15, a walk up and down the Effra maybe a couple of water retrieves and away. Welcome. I’m sure that everybody here is happy that you find this to be a friendly forum and am sure you will continue to hold that view. It is also very informative and thought provoking, even for those of us who do not participate in the more serious threads because we don’t know what we’re talking about (that’s me basically)
