A friend has a Brittany with both show and tracking championships. They certainly seem suited to the work if they have a competent trainer (alas, not me!)

Her handler has written an article for the next newsletter.

In Australia, can they get Show Championship Certificates if there is only one of that breed present - same as in NZ?  And does that apply to trials as well?

Yes, a CC can be awarded if there is only one representative of the breed, but a judge can refuse a CC if not sufficient quality and you need 100 points & compete against champions and grand champions (1000 points & 4 best in groups). In Australia, the CC points depend on the number of other dogs or bitches over 6 months that you defeat for the CC. So, although it is possible for a dog to get its championship without beating another dog, it rarely happens.

However, in NSW & Victoria, Brittanys are actively shown and it is very unusual to not have competition. This particular Brittany had to beat champions and grand champions to make up her title, and also went class in group on many occasions.

For tracking you compete against all breeds and need a minimum standard of good for each tracking test. The Brittany scored excellent for most of her tracks.

There is also a gorgeous black tricolour Brittany that made up her show championship and competes with distinction in agility. Her owner is much more interested in dog sports so we don't see her in the show ring any more, which is a pity. All five colours are permitted here (we follow the country of origin breed standard, ie, FCI). However, there are mostly clear orange & white in the ring.

No this litter was born 15/07/08, funny thing is I thought that Martin had a prefix ie; Broadwing, but he doesn't appear to have used it on this litter.

Thanks, Gundoglover, with your permission I'll put some of that in breed notes?  Do you have the name/breeding of these Brittanys?  I'm sure everyone on here would like to know which French lines they come from

Jan, I also think Martin's prefix is Broadwing as Copper is Broadwing Crafty Illusion.  Do you know who her parents are  Question
