Greetings from Down Under!
This weekend the North Island field trial championships were held in Wairoa - the only Brittany to run was Barry and Chris Hill's Spice (Darling Sophie came into season so missed the trip north).
Spice was placed a very meritorious third and is the first Brittany to gain a place in the North Island championship!
Unfortunately, an untidy retrieve cost her a better placing.
The competition moves next weekend to my home town of Hastings where the New Zealand Championship is being held.
This trial will be a Brittany fest with not only Barry judging (and Chris stewarding) but also the debut of the honourable Gaston, and also competing is Uncle Folly - Spice's litter brother Leaningrock Lairg Castle, owned by Jo Arnold. Folly has only one more point required for his field trial champion title.
The delicious Dionee makes her debut in the puppy class with a single bird retrieve over land and a single bird retrieve over water. The dog with the highest aggregate score is the winner.
Also of interest will be the AGM of the New Zealand Gundog Trial Association. This year, Barry has been nominated for the executive and the outcome of the delegates vote will be awaited with much interest by all Bretonniers
I will report back with results and the outcome of the AGM asap! _________________ "...amitie, respect mutuel et amour..."
