Hi all,
I am not sure where to put this so breeding got it!!!
As I am looking for a husband for the Mabeleen and I haven't yet totaly decided I thought looking at the pedigree's on the data base would be a help!
It was very interesting but I am so dissapointed that the number of people who have not been bothered to put photo's of there dogs especially stud dogs on the data base.
Why!!!!!!!!!!!!?

I know most people who have been in the breed for a hundred years know most of the dogs and what they look like but as a new owner and breeder I don't!
Most websites I look on do have photo's. It takes a few minutes to take a photo of your beloved dog then unload it to the webmaster.

Possibly because Anne has not yet had time to scan them all in and there are not that many stud dogs out there anyway. If you know of a dog you like then ask the owner/s for a photo and they may send you one. You have been in dogs long enough to know what people are like Gill Rolling Eyes

Take your camera to the next CH Show and ask if you can take pictures of the dogs that way you can build up your own catalogue and peruse them to your hearts content when you have nothing better to do Wink  Wink

Not sure I consider myself as an owner of 100 year!!! Like a few on here am quite well acquainted with many of the earlier dogs. And I feel that what is behind is...sooooo important.
Photos can and do lie, so I would not take note until I had seen and been over the Stud dog myself( who must be a Stallion of a dog like a friend mentions Wink ) What he produces, how they work, what is their nose like and what French lines he comes from.
I saw the most gorgeous dog in photo on the French magazine: he is a Ch CS, Tri- not that it matters to me- and well titled with a good sire.
Andy, Sue, Alan and I made a detour to look before  I booked this tailless dog: what a disappointment Crying or Very sad The skull was too narrow for me, he had tremendous bone but I am so glad I had a good look and quizzed the owner. Puppies quite dirty and we were left outside the gate as the dogs were brought to us and put on a stone table Rolling Eyes
Back to square one now; Though I have found 3 good French studs over there as the working side must equal the conformation. Hips must be no more than a " B" and tailless preferably.
Take your time Gill and go round to look...

I like to do my homework in the privacy of my own home and looking at photo's just gives me an idea. Asking the owners might make them think I AM going to use there dog and of course I may not.
I have bred 35 litter in my time in dogs and done it my way right or wrong, this has to be the hardest breeding I have done yet.

Good reply Pat, I am doing my best and I should have gone to France with you all as I had of hoped too.

You are right of course photo's do lie but its a start, with many colours that the dogs could be I would just like to see what there colour is if nothing else.

The chance for me to go over loads of dogs are nil, the entrys at show are low and we seem to get the same dogs over and over again. Not that I am saying there bad because there not. The health is important of course and I would like tailless as well. Tails on Welsh Springer are lovely but not on Brits. (In my oppinion).

There are things on the Mabeleen I would like to enhance there are all so things I want to keep big time. (Oh god I think I am going mad).

Anne is trying to get time to upload the photos but they are nearly all older ones.

Can I suggest, Gill, that you look at possible studs on the database then ask me if I have a photo waiting to be uploaded, and if not I may have one elsewhere on my computer.  And if we draw a blank there I can possible ask the owners directly for photos for the website without you having to do it

I have a new flatbed scanner which should be easier to use than the page scanner I had previously, but I only got it a couple of days ago and there are about 200 photos to upload, so it may take a while.  Bear with me everyone, I'll do what I can within the boundaries of my other activities Laughing  Laughing

Don't do that we'd have no-one to talk about - he he - only joking, there are plenty to gossip about!

By the way, what number is That Mabeleen up to?  or have you stopped counting? Laughing  Laughing

I am sending you a PM Gill to illustrate what I mean with photos Shocked You will be surprised...and colour...as long as they are not totally Black or sable...then...
You must go to a Super Speciale in France to see some excellent specimens. as well as less good. One of the judges was nicely suprised by the overall quality of the UK dogs thiniking they might have looked like" goats"!!!
