Not much going on the forum just now so let's start the recipe book rolling - recipes for both human and canine.  Post to me as PM's and I'll collate them into a single document and send to John for him to set it up with pictures and any anecdotes we get along with the recipes. Interesting names for the recipes might be good too, and pictures if any of you can cook them and photograph the finished article - Jamie Oliver eat your heart out!

From Mrs Beeton

The recipe could easily go no further. Laughing

Take one or more Breton.  Place in your heart, baste liberally with love and kindness; simmer with care, garnish well with pheasant, quail, partridge and hare...

I've got a couple of recipes from people on the HPR forum.  Any offers from the Brittany crowd????

Not a single recipe so I guess everyone must be on diets.  So what's your favourite way of serving lettuce?

I've got some really easy puddings - Mmmmmmm my fave topic!

1.  Ingredients - bananas, fresh orange juice, water, orange segments, ice cream

Put some bananas in a pretty, fairly flat dish - sliced or chopped - as you please.  Mix some fresh orange juice and a lttle water with cornflour to a runny paste and top up with about a half pint of orange jiuce and water - 2 parts orange juice to 1 of water.  Mix well and heat gently till sauce begins to thicken, stirring well to avoid lumps. bring to a slow boild then pour over the bananas. Decorate with orange segments and serves hot over ice cream.  Delicious, quick and easy.  You can use other fruit and other juices to taste

2. Ingredients - one carton goats milk yoghurt, equal volume of lemon curd.

Mix together with a metal spoon and put in a pretty serving dish suitable for teh freezer.  Freeze till required.  When needed remove from freezer about 20 minutes before and grate lemon rind over the top before serving.  Equally delicious, very lemony and quite sweet.

Lettuce - use iceberg lettuce - slice or shred into a bowl, chop up a red onion, mix through and drizzle with vinaigrette - yummy, even if not on a diet! Wink

My favourite way is...French. Iceberg or other lettuce, with vinaigrette of course. Topped with chopped crispy bacon, croutons, walnuts if required with ..duck gisets. The bacon, gisets have to be hot. You can add a little creme fraiche if not on a diet! Delicious...
Cool  Or try some croutons with warm goat cheese. Fab!

Take a vacherin or mont d'or and make a hole in the top; pour in a bit of white wine and then place in oven and warm through.
Peel remains of top away and serve like a fondue with french bread.
