Charley came into season I think yesterday, when I say I think she was licking yesterday and Brice had his nose stuck up her nether regions while today I have seen blood drips. She is not swollen yet and it is funny as Brice is keen to sniff while Chase couldn't be bothered with her apart from their normal romping play.
Glad she is crate trained and I have a good solid crate . Life could be fun over the next few weeks and already she is popping in the crate when I am not directly supervising her.
Timing wise I have two disappointments........... I was planning on attending the FT at Hamptworth and also was supposed to be Stewarding the FT at Bodidris but as I can't leave her I will have to forgo both - normally I would take my dogs (s) and leave them in the car but this is impossible (and against the rules) with a bitch in season. _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. She isn't yours so can't the owner have her for a day or two? Or a friend?
When either of my bitches is in season I have to run them in the back garden and Allez in the front garden. If there is any cross over at all it makes life unbearable noise wise. Even without that, during the height of the season I have howling from both him and the girls. Good luck, you will need it. You could try rubbing an onion on Chase's chest to disguise the scent - and Femfresh or similar on her rear. _________________ Annie

Day 3 and all is well ........... apart from the blood liberally flecking the floor . Neither indoor boy is bothered and nor was Piper when Charley was in the garden.
Annie - I have her cos of health issues so it isn't feasible for her owner to have her back yet but I do have contingency plans for either her (not ideal as she is only just settling) or the boys en masse which might work better. But at the moment all is calm and no-one is worried, all my lads have been exposed to fruity girls before and never worried (Brice's granny in particular would mate anything at 'that' time) and of course none have been used or are likely to be so don't know what they are missing . If things change though and they get upset I will mobilise my plans. _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. Pets first and foremost.
Day 3 ?????? Peanuts, Easy peasy Just wait till day 8 or 9 It's instinct! It ain't anything to do with what they don't know they are missing. Mind you I remember Moira and Steve had a boy that was gay and they could leave him with a full on bitch any time! And no, he wasn't castrated! Have fun! _________________ Annie

I know Day 3 is nothing - however they have also gone through deerhound days 10 - 16 with two girls in together so who knows? I am prepared for hell and knew this was likely as one thing I have learned from fostering is that home change often pulls the girls into season.
Mind you, as Charley leaps the tall dog gate I think she may well go looking for the neighbourhood dogs if mine don't oblige . _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. Pets first and foremost.
Toby was fine with Bliss until the day she was mated - then all hell broke loose. Whether he realised someone else had "had" her I don't know. It then took him about a month to calm down _________________ Liz and the Brats
No-one is "having" Charley so hopefully that won't be an issue . Brice is pleased she is home after a trip to do a homecheck and Sunday Lunch out but not pleased enough to be a pain! _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. Pets first and foremost.
Day 9 and all is still calm - Chase is still playing nicely with her and not interested, Brice is a little more interested but only sniffing and the odd lick. Charley is still a dirty little mare and has no interest in cleaning herself .
Crate is being employed on a more frequent basis but after a chat with her owner I think I have a few more days before she will be ready as last time she was Day 12 -15 most fruity .
Odd Piper is most interested so maybe he was used in the past? He is not worried being in the kennel but I have had to stop him playing with her in the garden. _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. Pets first and foremost.
Just watch Chase. Brittanys have a 'wham, bam, thank you, ma-am1 attitude. My boys have always sort of pretended they don't really know what to do or what is going on and as you turn away they are tied!
