A little stand at CruftsSince Joanne talked about crying your eyes out...Whilst we were doing Discover Dogs, we wondered about round the stands: I found this little stand with a lovely lady who was selling her books on the " Innocent victims" of Zimbabwe. Her name is Meryl Harrison and she worked for the SPCA there. Her story recounts how she saved the lives of hundred of animals from evicted White Farmers. How the " War Veterans" set horses on fire, "hamstrung" sheep or cattle 's legs and all the horrors both the Farmers and their animals suffered. It puts everything in perspective and we think we have rescue problems
Funnily one of her helpers had a Brittany which she had from a disabled man and I was trying to help her in describing a " recall" regime as...the bitch was not too keen to come back.
This is a hard book to read,- which I recommend- the lady now lives in Norfolk having lost everything. I will think of her whenever I feel sorry for myself...

Thanks for that Eddie....It makes interesting reading, if not heartbreaking. As we see the news day in day out, these people make us understand better the plight of both humans and animals.
I am full of admiration for Mrs Harrison and all her rescue work.
