All legal...Today was the day when the pups were microchipped as part of the docking legal requirement. What a huge needle it was and when I think many vets are injecting this into a 2 day old puppy. That I refused to do .
Most went in OK in the shoulder blade, level with the elbow " band". When I asked why that far down, I was told if it moved it would travel to the elbow and could still be found My " Brittany spaniels" being all the same colour Black were not that easy to identify so Jess wrote down who had a solid coloured head and who had blazes etc... Not too easy. Then...one of the chips did not go in but sat on the shoulder. So another huge needle and a little scream New vet with little sense of humour, and an hour later and we are done. Thank Goodness it is Microchip month with a discount. Do I want Thermo or not? Not worried as I prefer the tattoo every time0- this is happening next week- and I normally have the tattoo to match the pup and microchips.
The Receptionist is a lovely lady who is replacing Jess, and as to keep her busy, I had asked her for estimates of various procedures from vaccines, to hip scoring, passport...etc. And out of hours fees. I nearly had a heart attack when I compared the "out of hours" charges to another closeish practice following Baileys little night visit to the vet. Over £ 100 difference per hour!!!
£210 once you call a vet in evenings- nights.
Told Baileys she could be have been considerate and whelped during the day The moral of the story: You can ask your vet for their prices even if mine did not want to put it on paper.
My usual vet having moved on, it has left a big hole and I find myself back in the horrible position to be wary as she was so brilliant. I would actually trust her way more than my doctor and had a far better relationship!!!
