any information pleasemy husband pete has an 11month old brittany x springer bitch puppy.I found this site for him recently and have to admit we have not stopped laughing. He brought Meg after he had lost his springer x lab at not quite 8 to cancer. He thourght a x springer might be easier for him to train to the gun hence our merriment at reading the various articles on this site
My husband is no longer a spring chicken and Meg has not been easy as those that know the breed might guess but her inteligence has amazed us.He brought her from the breeder near Beccles and was told that the dog was a red/white from Newmarket does anyone know which dog this might have been?We did not know the Brittany but now realise that both in looks and temerament she very much takes after that side of her parentage.

MegIf Meg is a cross it is more than likely that either it was a misalliance, or it was deliberate. Either way, it's very unlikely that the Club would be able to trace the stud dog or his owner. I'm really pleased that Meg is such a good dog for you. Why not post a photo of her on here?

It was a deliberate mating he also had another springer bitch with a litter a few weeks younger that had been sired by the same dog.Unfortunately we have lost the contact number .I did try to post a photo but although I can put them onto e-mails ok I was having trouble downsizing it to put on here. Many thanks anyway,it would just have been nice to have known a little more about her sire.I will try again with the photos.

Hi Pete
Send a photo as there are several dogs in the Newmarket area and I live about 25 miles away so may be able to help.

MegI mentioned this to Jan last night on the phone - she will try to help find MEG's sire. You don't need to downsize the file - the system does it for you. Just click on the blue underlined phrase below the text box "add image to post" then browse for the picture on your computer. If you want to reduce the size of the image first - open it with Microsfot Office Image Manager and go to edit pictures then to compress picture and click on the size you want. I use document size as it can be emailed but still keeps good resolution. Here are Ghillie (Jan's) and a French dog - First du Hameau de Sorny - on point. The images are different sizes on my computer.

As an owner of both Brittanys and Springers I have often wondered what a cross between the two would be like. The best of both would be an amazing creature but the worst of both would be an absolute nightmare! What to call them, The Bringer Spaniel or The Sprittany?
Welcome to the forum, best wishes.
