Bath Championship showThe following was received today by email. some of you will have been copied in, others may not have been
| Quote: | Hi All
Have you seen that Bath Champ Show have had a turn around and are going to charge the public entry.
Act now and they may change as Paignton did last year. Phone and make a complaint to Mr Keith Nathan on 01 623 754450.
They don't take much money at the gate and if we all say they will loose our custom it may make a difference. I for one will not enter my other dogs which will loose them about £63.
They got a bad entry last year because of the Judges nothing to do with the public!
Even if you haven't got a docked tailed dog, stand up for those who work their dogs and are abiding by the law. |

I have sent them the following message - | Quote: | | As a previous Judge at Bath for Brittanys, (on two occasions, once without and once with Challenge Certificates) I wish to protest at the decision to charge the general public to watch the Show. Doing so precludes dogs which have been legally docked and as such will probably eliminate a large percentage of our Breed, which is dual purpose. Many Brittanys are worked - not just shown, and consequently many breeders have shooting licenses or work on shoots and thus have permission to dock puppies legally. This is detrimental to our breed and I object strongly to your decision. |

They've tried it on again! Get emailing folksBath have reverted to their original stance last year - quoted from their schedule "A dog docked on or after 6 April 2007 may not be entered for exhibition at this show"
Time to get emailing the Secretary (clenmaen@gmail.com) again I think folks - I just did. This is what I wrote if it's of any help I'll do the same fro any shows I hear of who do the same. | Quote: | Good afternoon.
I notice from your schedule that you have reverted back to the position last year before you were inundated with requests to admit legally docked dogs - viz
"A dog docked on or after 6 April 2007 may not be entered for exhibition at this show"
Can I please ask you and your Committee to remove this criteria and allow ALL dogs to be shown at Bath. You will lose considerable entries if you do not do so, and will be cow-towing to the Government's ill advised and ill thought out and confused docking ban, which is not even consistent in our four countries that make up the United Kingdom. You will no doubt be aware that any dog may be shown in Scotland regardless of the status of its tail, that we cannot dock at all in Scotland, and that the Wales ban on docking was on a different date from that of England.

This is appaling And segregates against working dogs. If Bath is worried about "policing" the legally docked dogs, all they need to do is ask for a photocopy of the legal document filled by the vet at the time.
I wonder how many less dogs will enter because of this stupid law
My new puppy is docked, so that will be one less, and older ones?? plus 3 others who now won't be entered that I know of.
The recession has bitten hard, all Ch shows are way down on entries. People NEEDED to see how things would pan out when breeding their next litter and how the ban would affect them, so just one year and they give up on docked dogs??? It takes people a little while to get their head round things, how they deal with a situation , where do they go with their breed etc...
My stance has always been the same and is not about to change. I am now going to email the secretary too...

Show Secretaries need to realise that if they prevent ONE legally docked dog from entering, then other dogs owned by the same person won't be entered either - some of those may also be legally docked, just older - no difference in my opinion. Get emailing folks! Not for yourself but for working dogs in general

I have emailed straight after reading your message Anne...
Most of my dogs are docked and though I am importing a tailless and trying to breed some with that trait, what do I do with the others????
Hummmm.... I would like to show under the next year judge but no docked dogs?
