Victoria

Congratulations to you all!!
Lin Dyke

Congratulations from us aswell.
As Guy has said in another post, it was especially good to see so many working dogs do so well in the ring  Very Happy

We had a wonderful weekend.  Rudi did us proud, he performed well in the TAN on Saturday, did some obedience, and some water work.  I felt so proud of Jim and him, especially when they were given a special award for the obedience  Surprised  Very Happy

Onto the show: Rudi was sporting a snazzy hair cut (many thanks to Gill for that  Smile )  He showed the best he has ever done and qualified for the "BIG ONE" next March Shocked  cheers

As for Copper, the least said the better.  I was feeling pretty rough with this cough/cold thing (plus a few too many wines Friday night  Embarassed )
He behaved atrociously on Saturday  Evil or Very Mad  and was "sin binned" for Sunday.  I felt totally inadequate and downcast  Sad

In spite of that, we had a brilliant weekend and look forward to the next one in February  Very Happy

Many thanks to everyone for making it such a good one  salute
glynis

A very BIG thankyou  wav to all the committee for making the weekend so enjoyable! thank goodness the rain waited 'til sunday Exclamation No exciting results for the furry Fen (she didn't get trimmed) but thanks to John's patience later on Saturday she did  show that she could scent and find birds and there was even a quick 'point'.  Congratulations to all those already mentioned

Congrats to you all, even though I was in the room most of the day I missed much of the show but there were some lovely looking dogs there.

A special well done to the working dogs and those others that spent Friday and Saturday training for the job they were bred for and then getting into the ring on Sunday
guy

The biggest thrill to me was Murphy - a recently rescued dog with multiple previous owners going out to do his TAN - both he and his handler not having any idea what it was all about but having a go - and becoming one of only four who qualified.  That must have been the most accurate display  of natural ability on  the day.
guy

Be warned next year's TAN day is already being planned - with three things not there this year on the cards already.  So if you have been before you will be able to come along again and fill your day!

Donald will be working on getting all previous years' show results on the Club website.  I have retained a number of marked catalogues from 1995, and may put out a request for any missing ones in the hope we can set up a full record.
I have asked Guy for a short resume of how Saturday went, and Barbara for Sunday but if anyone else wants to send me their views I'll include them in Breed Notes too - all copy by Thursday lunchtime please.
Patricia

Thank you Guy for putting the results on here...Much appreciated.
I will look forward to the " International" flavour of next year. Wink
eddieh

Must remember to bring my glasses next year as I couldn't read the listing of activities provided for Saturday and didn't make the most of those activities but enjoyed the weekend and would echo the gratitude expressed by previous posters for the organisation and work put in members of the committee and anybody else involved. salute  salute  salute

Unfortunately I was out of the room when the TAN results were announced.
Could anybody tell me who the three, apart from Murphy, were who passed and what the actual requirements are for passing the test? I'm sure there are others who still find it a bit of a mystery.

I think there is a slight error in the show results. Remi is shown as getting reserve in class three but actually got vhc. Somebody appears to have been missed out.
guy

Eddie - print size was one of those things I thought about when I was away from my printer :-) it was only then I remembered I intended to do a large poster size one.  It is on ly list for next year.

Whilst it is all fresh in peoples minds any improvements modifications gratefully received.  (FYI coffee break now has a volunteer - but expect the unexpected)  Also ideas for an afternoon attraction.  I have a couple of things but would welcome suggestions.

Results - these are not the official ones just someones personal record. May be other errors.  The proper version will no doubt be up on fossedata sometime in the future.

TAN results - Catja was one and one of the Yarak puppies another, I will check with Julia tonight as she wrote out the certificates.  I think you are right we need to list these somewhere properly.

I had better get back to the day job - but I will write up something about what the TAN is all about.
Mugi

Liz and Ozzy were the other qualifier in the TAN.
Ghilliegumdrop

Merlin won Special Yearling despite being 'unruly' on the move [judges words not mine........mine are not printable Rolling Eyes  Rolling Eyes ]
Ghill got second in Open Bitch and she did her Bronze Good Citizen Award and passed that Twisted Evil

May not be - isn't usually.  The Anniversary one was done but hasn't been in the past. If a show has online entry usuallly results are there too.
As I said, when Donald has time he will get as many previous shows up as possible.

Allez was second Limit dog to Dag.

I was commenting on my lack of organisation rather than the print size. You'd have to spread that sheet over two pages for me to be able to read it without glasses. Laughing

I mis-worded my original post. I understood that they were not an official record, but thought it worth mentioning in case anybody used them to fill in their own catalogue

The champ shows are also on Higham's press and Fosse Data, but I have BCGB catalogues back to 1986 somewhere!
Liz

Wow I hadn't realised how few had actually got their TAN.   Makes me even more proud of my boy Very Happy

I'm so pleased he got is as he and I are both total novices - some of you will know how close I was on Saturday morning to chickening out of taking him in for it Embarassed

Congratulations to those who took their Bronze Good Citizens.   I had more people trying this year and 5 passed - the ones that weren't ready only failed their 1 minute stay Crying or Very sad

Has the write up for this show been printed in Our Dogs and I've missed it? I can't find it on the Dog World website.
Pippa's Pack

I have not seen it yet, was hoping it might be out in time for the newsletter.  Otherwise it will be in the summer 2009 edition.
Liz

I've been looking out for the write ups - and especially to see how the best puppy photos have come out Very Happy
eddieh

I'm interested in how diplomatically Kathy can say "Nice dog, poorly handled and poorly presented Laughing
doganjo

Don't worry, all judges are well versed in phrases such as 'typical Brittany, can't keep 4 legs on floor', 'perhaps ring craft classes might be useful for this one'
etc etc
Patricia

Kathy would never say things like that, she is far too polite...

The woman who takes us for ringcraft told me a few weeks ago that she is very pleased with Remi’s improvement. She added to that “I’ve seen some lunatics come here but he took the biscuit”

Seems a good time to say that, being new to showing I was (and am still a little) nervous, but am happy to say that the way all the judges (present company included) I’ve shown under have carried out their task, has helped to put me at ease.
Patricia

Don't worry Eddie Very Happy  Don't forget this is supposed to be a hobby and that you need to enjoy it too.
And the judges are only humans, not Gods Wink Some good, some not so good. Believe iny yourself and your dog, you always take the best one home whatever. And there is always the bar afterwards Wink

You missed "some who should know better and some who should be done under the trade descriptions act"
Patricia

I am only trying to be PC here...I think I have been in England too long!!! Crying or Very sad
You get to learn and you don't bother to spend all that money on going under someone who does not know the Brittany standard in depht.
I remember Meriel Hathaway stating she read the FCI standard. Good on her.... Cool

Talking of Kathy, don't tell anyone but I bet you would never know what she gets up to when not at work or doing dog things?

Has anyone got any iders???

I am pleased to say a copy of Kathy's critique will be in the next issue of the newsletter.

Apparently, Remi has two heads.  Laughing

Do you think that cost him first place in his class?

We will try to find a copy tomorrow.  Hope WH Smith in Reading will have one.

Maybe the tail belongs to James who turns out to be not naturally tailless, but mutilated by a jealous sibling
