Birmingham ResultsI was reading the write up this morning in the dog press for the Birmingham champ show and Junior Dog states Janet was first with Merlin when in my catalogue I have it marked that Janet and Merlin was second, I have looked on Higham press web site and they also have it that Janet was second Who was first ?. Was it you Jan
Has anyone else got this result or is it a misprint
I like to keep my Catalogues for future reference so like them to be marked correctly.
Well done to First or Second nice write up

It was an error - don't know whether it was printer or not - Jan was 2nd to R Crispin - it's been changed on Higham's site.

It's OK Joanne.....the correction is in this weeks paper. Merlin was second to Crispin.
All those drinks after the show perhaps

I apologise for this mistake
I was too intent on writing my critique to be sent of right away. So it is absolutely fresh in my mind, as I picture the dog in front of me.
I emailed Barbara and Gill ( whose title I also forgot) to apologise.
I had however sent a correction to both papers the next day...( and somehow did NOT get corrected)
Especially as The critique did not get in Our Dogs the same week.
So, sorry, silly mistake...

Anne, according to Dog World (1st May) we are in ring 13 after the Schipperkes (18 of them entered). See you there

Thanks, Liz. Lucky 13????? For who I wonder? He doesn't usually do crits so it'll be interesting to see if he does this time. I think Freckles might not be there, looks like she's coming in season. Belle has just finished so she'll be there.

Congrats to Jayne and Gill for their CCs at this year's Brum - and to Amanda and Paul & Janette for their reserves. Merlin won Limit dog and I see the 'switherers' eventually went and got 2nd in PG dog (Eddie & Lynda) to John and Barbara's Crispin. The Throssells Dee Dee is doing well just now I see. Well done all of you and the other winners.

Thanks Anne, much to my total suprise yes the Mabeleen won her 16th CC. The reason for my suprise was because I only got a 4th the last time Ray Greenwood judged, I think it was in post grad, it just shows you should give a judge two goes and if they put your dog down both times then take the hint but sometimes the first time you go under a judge your dog maybe young or out of coat ect.
While I am on the subject of being at a show I have to say that there was an exellent atmosphere at the benches and at the ring, every one was chatting and it was good to see a few people who have been out of the ring for puppies.
I hope this continues as I really enjoyed being around the Brit people today. Thank you all.
Gill and a very tired Mabeleen.

Switherer - one who swithers
to swither (third-person singular simple present swithers, present participle swithering, simple past and past participle swithered)
1. (Scots and dialects) To be indecisive or in a state of confusion; to dither.

I'm still confused Anne. Are you referring to Ray, who was certainly undecided, or me? Have I been dithering about something?

Well done Barbara - you are certainly 'on a roll' at the moment. So, well deserved - she looks lovely. Congratulations also to Jayne and Gill on their CC's. So sorry we could not stay for the group in the end.
Personally, a bit of a sad day for us - seems like the end of an era. It has been a happy time so thanks to everyone who has contributed to that.

Sorry, just being a wimp and feeling sorry for myself! On Sunday, I finally came to the conclusion that I am expecting too much of my Soufee to continue in the showring. She is such a star and takes all that comes to her without complaint, but her arthritis is just too bad for her to carry on.
I think everything just piled up a bit. We have recently returned from a wet and muddy circuit in Ireland. Does not usually bother us but it meant that although she was entered in five shows, she was not able to compete in any. When we first got the diagnosis we were quite relieved. We thought this is not too serious - just need some tablets. Unfortunately it is not that simple.
With the decision to stop showing her, also comes the realisation that the lifestyle we have enjoyed so much over the past few years will come to an end also. We have loved taking our caravan around the shows, particularly in Ireland where everyone is so friendly.
It seems so hard to comprehend that we have 2 'oldies' of 14 and 11 with no arthritis and she first showed symptoms at 6. I asked the vet why. He said just as some people get it really young, so it is with dogs. No reason, just one of those things.
I must count my blessings, at least she can still run in the woods and by the river, albeit not so far afield. She really enjoys herself on her walks and is such an easy, laid back dog in the house. Long may this continue.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments and e-mails.

Sorry to hear this Gay...Indeed the Irish are lovely people and have a warmth found nowhere else. I used to go to near Fermoy and Cork a lot in my younger days I loved it there, though not the going to church bit on Sundays!
I know how Soufee feels, I have arthritis in both my ankles and find uneven ground painful. So, I carry on making demands of my family to run my dogs/ trial them and even help me off my big Friesian mare now Thank God I can still do most of the training and when we want a good gallop across fields, I take the quad ! Just to hear it they shriek in excitement and keep up with it! American way here we come!!!( Don't need a treadmill!)

Liz

So sorry to read this Gay. There's no rhyme or reason why some dogs get things far younger than others do.
Glad to hear that Soufee is still enjoying her walks, and hope she'll continue to enjoy them for a long time to come.

Sorry to hear that, do you really need to give it all up ? could you maybe reduce the number you entered etc or dare i say get a new member to the pack !!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that news Gaye. Perhaps as Dave said a little something new? I am not sure how i would cope when mine cannot do as they do now.

Gay,I was really sad to hear of your decision but understand why you have made it. I feel really lucky that I will still have the opportunity to meet up with you, Brian, and the girls when our walks get back to normal.

Hi Guy, I am also sad to here your news but you can't just disappear you are to important in the Brittany schemes of things. Not having you around is just not an opinion, sorry.
Of course adding to your team would be quite hard but if it was possible I am sure you would get that fire back, and I don't want to hear you are too old either!!!!
I am sure I can speak for others when I say you would be very much missed!
