Blood test

I have come to the conclusion that some Brittanys are complete, hysterical con artists. Sorry Patricia but this one is yours and after today you may find him in the post Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing .

Today was the blood test for his rabies vac titres. Now they need just 1ml of serum after it is spun but to be sure of achieving that they want a reasonable amount of blood.

All my other dogs will sit and give paw for blood tests, including Mugi but I know Chase.........

The vet is already nervous of him so as she would be at the pointy end I had taken a muzzle with me and suggested I would put it on at the outset - she seemed relieved (and no I know he wouldn't do anything but the hysterical behaviour we had for Kennel Cough Vaccine was her first experience of Chase). She also decided we would have a vet nurse to help her keep his paw still while I cuddled him and held him firmly.

Well I got my bit right - his body and head didn't move but there was wafting paw and needle all over the shop and the squeals he emitted were blood curdling Rolling Eyes  Embarassed  Very Happy .

We hope she got enough blood and interestingly she got splattered with red drops, as did the floor and wall Shocked . As soon as she went to pop the blood in the tubes he calmed down and sat like a lamb watching her, muzzle came off and he accepted cuddles and a biscuit but then she needed to pop another 'bandage' on as he was seeping through the original - screams and hysterics again till I put it on at which point he was quiet again Rolling Eyes .

As we left the consulting room Emma was relieved, the waiting room looked agog to see what had happened to the poor soul being murdered in there and himself swanned out - I am sure there was a grin on his face Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing.

I think next time I will ask to see Ken, my usual vet as I think Chase has decided that unnerving Emma is a great sport Wink  Laughing .

Typical Britt boy......Ghill is GOOD for the vet she sits and licks him because she knows she will get a biscuit after. Merlin does his wilting violet act and we all laugh Twisted Evil
Patricia

Sue, put him back in the post anytime you wish!!! Wink
Just because the poor boy is misunderstood, has the vet sussed and knows if he creates he will get his way. Got a brain or not???? Very Happy
All his family have lots of character, from his grand mother on the maternal side who was nearly " human" to his father who also was more akin to a reincarnated person!
Alan has a strong preference to Lorca babies...because everything else after that is...boring!
Anyway, the kennel cough vaccine is horrible, at least  he may earm himself the same title as his Dad, the black ba...rd!!!! Lorca loved being called that, he always gave those side looks and snorted , too bright for his own good...
Chase, your mum would not have you any other way??? Shocked  bunny

Funny how some dogs just sit there while the stuff is put up their nose and other moan like, well, Chase Exclamation  My vet bunged it up Merlin's nose and he didn't even notice till his nose started to leak Rolling Eyes  Rolling Eyes

Been there, done that, got the T shirt Very Happy

When I took Barney (Mugi's brother) for his first booster he screamed - not just a squeak, but an ear-splitting solid scream which went on for the whole time he was on the table, while the poor vet was horrified he'd damaged the poor dog.   It was PURE RAGE - you only had to look in his eyes to see he was furious at not being in control of the situation.   My ears rang for ages afterwards.   Goodness only knows what the waiting room thought was going on.

He never did it again for any other injections.   I think he'd tried to make his point, and realised he wasn't getting away with it.

You try taking in a Deerhound for the stuff Jan Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing .
Mugi

Oh, and Patricia.......................

You told me he would be challenging and all that - but I never heard that Lorca had THAT name - I might have thought twice before taking on his son Wink .

Though your final statement said it all, no I wouldn't have him any other way and mostly I am still grateful you entrusted him to me, now there are times........................................but no, will agree I am glad I have him however he behaves at times Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing.

Sue, think how dull your life would be...without him Cool
I look at your photos and see Lorca, his looks, even to lying in that tin bath. The difference is Lorca never made a murmur about anything; once Alan took a huge blackthorn out of his pad which he had to prize out with a needle. Not a sound... Only side looks from those very black eyes, a grin on his face and always a snort of pleasure when called " ba...rd!"
Out of all my imports not one comes close to him in character. Confused
I think Chase is a gorgeous boy and I am not biased, his sister is equally naughty! Wink

Yippee, had the phonecall I have been waiting for today from the vet to say Chase is safe to travel (well in essence to be brought home from mainland Europe) as of the beginning of June.
