Breed differencesI know this is non scientific but I took Charley weim out to work on caged quail on Friday.
Now she retrieves quite nicely (seen retreives without control as she is only young and I have no real idea what she has done before) but I was warned she wasn't that interested in hunting.
So quail were planted and bearing in mind she hasn't been with me a week we just took her downwind and bimbled back towards the birds on the wind as I don't know if she has whistle knowledge apart from the recall. It was obvious when she picked up scent and she did work in nice and steadily (not a fab pic I know)
and her point was nice
but it has to be said ............... no excitement watching her at all.
Saying that she is a really sweet dog and it is nice to have our guest but a Brittany is so much more fun!
