Breed Seminars

Recently I 'did' the Breed Seminar presented by Kathy Gorman with Eileen Hughes and Marion Reeves as co-assessors. I was initially planning on doing this as a spectator as I have never done anything similar but I was 'conned' in a nice way to take part as a participant.

It was not really high on my priority list as it ended up that I did this on the Sunday after I lost Mugi and my heart wasn't fully in it.............................but I learned loads! I would fully recommend that anyone who has a genuine love of the breed does attend - it is a steep learning curve to do it as a participant as a number of my fellow 'victims' from the breed will attest but in many ways putting yourself in what is (from my perspective anyway) a potentially embarassing position makes you take it seriously!!!

'Passing' is by no means a given and it is tough if you are new to the idea of judging but a good day.

.....................and I am so pleased I don't fulfill the other criteria needed to become a C list judge for a while yet so I am safe and can continue to learn Wink  Laughing .

Seriously, it is a bloomin good way of learning more about our breed and if you get the chance in the future I do recommend it.

Are places on seminars limited. I'd like to learn more about Brits but wouldn't like to think that I was denying an opportunity to somebody else just because I wanted to learn rather than having an immediate intention to judge the breed.

Eddie - I have no overwhelming desire to judge but still enjoyed my day and learned heaps. The days are not done that frequently but if you want to register a possible interest drop Paul Yarrow an email - it may be a while before the next one is done so who knows what your intentions will be then?

Yes, we limit them to 12 judge type participants but can have any number of observers.  The only difference is the observers don't sit the exam, and it doesn't count for judging.  We don't always have full cards though - 1st come 1st served anyway!  Pay your money, take the test.
