09.00 was bad enough but 08.30 Glad we're staying close by as I think the veterans are first in the ring at Crufts

That's the opening of the show rather than start of judging isn't it?
Doesn't judging start at 9:00?
|
eddieh

Should I be receiving something in the post soon?

That's what I thought till I read it on another forum. I've had my stuff Eddie.....your's should be with you soon.

I'd been hoping to make it to Crufts, but I'm afraid the 8.30 start will mean it's too early for me, so sadly I'll have to give it a miss this time.

I don't mind starting early but it would be nice to have some time to settle Remi down. Can't we bribe somebody so we can be judged after the LM s again
|

That will be next year Eddie I think I might book a room somewhere otherwise it means leaving at 6.00am.
|

|
Never mind. We can get in from 06:00 onwards, so everything's ok

Our tickets, passes, etc arrived yesterday. Confirmation in there and in today's Dogs World of the 08.30 start for judging
|
eddieh
|
Do you think we can leave at 15:30 then
|
eddieh
|
That was a joke

Our's also arrived yesterday. Did a double take at the 08.30 start We are staying (at not inconsiderable expense ) at the Express By Holiday Inn Birmingham Nec, on the Friday night. This hotel is on Bickenhill Parkway, which is part of what could be referred to as the "perimeter" road of the NEC complex. We booked early January, by which time all the reasonably priced places had no rooms available. Their prices were also considerably higher for the Crufts dates It is expensive but as this is probably a "once in a lifetime" experience for us we don't mind too much
|

|
For the distance we have to travel, I feel more comfortable with early preparations in my own home. I still feel that it's an unreasonably early start though. Especially when we can't leave before 16:00. Storming the gates would be a good idea. (that's a half joke)

It is a loooong time from start to leave time..... perhaps we should dig a tunnel
|
eddieh
|
How about claiming to have no watch and forming a "revolving" queue asking "Can we leave yet?"

Crufts start timeIt wasn't that long ago it was 5pm leaving!!! and in London!!
It is that early because of the entry of the breeds in the ring. There are 10 in open dog by the way for anyone in that class. Don't ask me how I know because if I tell you I might have to kill you!
I will have to leave home at 5am!!! But I am taking a friend who is disabled so arriving in the disabled car park at 07.30 am should get us a good spot.
And yes I am in the first class!

I'll have a LONG lie that day, a leisurely breakfast and lunch - then I'll switch on the computer and watch the live feed from the big to see who got BOB
Have fun everyone, glad I'm not going!

7.30 might be a good time for the carpark - but will it be early enough to beat the traffic jam on the motorway sliproad?

Hi All,
I have had some WARNINGS about this years Cruft's. The rent a crowd (aminals rights) have put on there web sites that they are going to do there best to disrupt this years Crufts.
It has been advised to put your dogs in cages and put a great big padlock on it, even if you are around the benches.
There slogan this year is better a dead dog that a pedigree dog!!
They intend to hire buses to get protesters there, I think maybe it will be worse on the final day but please take care to protect your lovely Brits?
Gill and Mabeleen who will be nailed to the bench at Crufts.

It says on their website, that they are not going to start their protest untill 10am by which time we shall be well on our way to being judged.....almost over in fact.
With a bit of luck it will start to rain around 10 am and finish at 4pm, that should put paid to any protesting
I wonder how they will manage to get in and stay inside if they are going to wear silly outfits while they protest.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY MONSTROUS!!! so what are the organisers going to do to protect you and your dogs. Surely to goodness, this cannot be allowed...what the hell is wrong with these people...honestly, I cannot believe this...

Animal activists will do just about anything to put there point over. I remember when they were fighting Fox Hunting, there idea of saving the fox from a pack of hounds was to blow the hunting horn to turn the hounds away from the fox and make the pack cross a railway line or a main road which caused death to lots of hounds and injury to people in cars. I saw both with my own eyes!!
As far as starting the protest at 10 30am that is the red herring to let other people do damage in the Halls and beleive me they don't care what they have to do. As for how they get in well they pay like the public do!
Even if we are nearly finnished our judging we still have to stay until 16:30 before we can get out.
I would not like to be a Clumber exibitor.
Gill and the Mabeleen who is having lessons to bite Animal righte people!!!

Are Cruft's organisers prepared for this...and are these dangerous people ever held accountable for the damage they do to people, animals, property etc...I know here if you want to hold a rally to protest you need a permit or police permission to do so...surely no bureaucrat with two neurons would allow such behaviours...
better a dead dog than a pedigree dog...my little brain simply cannot grasp this...WHAT IS BEING DONE TO STOP THESE MANIACS...

I have to say that i am not at all confident that either security of the KC are prepared for this. My understanding is that it is Sunday when the demonstration is to take place, and trawling the web did not produce evidence to the contrary. I have also been alerted via a friend who shows Goldies to be vigilant about my car in the car park. As many people struggle on their own to get their equipment and dog into the NEC it is often the case that they will take the equipment and then go back for the dog. Comments are being passed on that cars/vans found with dogs in will have the sides, doors etc banged so that the dogs are stressed.
Further information has also arrived regarding the following, apologies if this has already been posted anywhere else:
"Subject: Caution required
I have been forwarded this email and have permission for crossposting. I dont think it would hurt for people to be a little more aware of who they are speaking to and what the information they are supplying is going to be used for in the current climate.
From David Cavill:
Take Care
We have just been told that a lady called Dorothea Penizek will be at Crufts working for Jemima Harrison. This may be hearsay, of course, but she was reported to be at Westminster doing the same. We are told that Dorothea was registered as a reporter at Crufts last year, this year she is coming as a visitor (she is not on the accredited list of reporters this year), and will be there for all four days. She arrives at Stansted on Wednesday and is then driving up to the show.
If anyone comes up to you and encourages you to talk about your dogs please be careful what you say. Ms Harrison has shown that she will have no hesitation in taking your innocent comments and distorting them for her own ends as we saw in Pedigree Dogs Exposed. My own comments were left on the cutting room floor. However, I have some experience of the media - clearly I did not say the 'right' things.
Regards"
Despite all this can I say GOOD LUCK to everyone who is showing on Saturday, and hope that you have a very enjoyable day.

I hope everyone stays safe and well on Saturday - I am very very glad I am not coming down this year. I will miss you all - but look after all your dogs and have a good time.

Glynis that posting was just a rumour and the lady in question has gone on line on the Our Dogs forum totally denying any of it. She is a well respected judge of Parson Jack Russells and is in no way to be lumped in with these idiots. There is also a reply, on her behalf, on the HPR forum.

Pedigree What Pedigree. I didn't miss them at all. I hope they missed us at Crufts.
When I was in the WSS ring showing, HRH The Prince Michael of Kent came into talk to me. What a shock and I forgot what to do, so I tryed to bow and curtsy at the same time which was so funny. Well it got a laugh from the Prince and the crowd. He talk about my Veteren bitch Ch Highclare Energizer and I told him she had her working cirt he was very interested. There were a lot of press there and I have ordered a photo from one of them. At last I have something to send to my now very old mum and dad. I have tryed for 30 years to get a BOB at Crufts as my parents only understand Crufts. And again I failed but now I have that photo they will be as happy as sand boys and BOB at Crufts will be less important and will allow me to enjoy the show in years to come.
Well done to the dog winning BOB he is a smashing old boy and has been a very important dog to the breed over the years.
