Darlington Champ Show

I got the Darlington schedule in the post this morning, and I see we are to be judged by a Mr Glen Vernon from Australia.   He's also doing Chesapeakes and Nova Scotia Duck Tollers, as well as other breeds in other groups.

Anyone know anything about him?   How is he qualified to judge 9 classes of Brits?

In the past Darlington have been very good at giving us breed judges, so this is a total change.

Liz, it will be interesting to see how he judges.   Considering that they exhibit the "Brittany" as the Americans do in Australia i.e trimmed etc.   Best of luck.

Yes, Victoria is right.  The breeding in Australia is mostly American type so he will have quite a culture shock I think!
Perhaps someone should let the Darlington Committee know that the Brittany in Australia is different frOm France and the uk?

It should be remembered that the Aussie and NZ systems of judging are different to that in the UK, in so far as the  judges exams are based upon group rather than individual breeds.
Mr Vernon has been given approval by the UK kennel Club to judge so that august body will be well aware of his qualifications.
While in the UK, he will be judging to your standard, same as any visiting UK judge in Aussie or NZ is required to judge to our standards and gets approval from the NZKC or Australian Kennel Council to officiate.

Whilest preferred presentation may differ between countries, overall the knowledge of the breed standard will be paramount.

Like the US, Japan, Canada, etc etc etc you have the two types - the EB and the American.  It is unfair to say that the Brittany in Australia is different to those of France and the UK.  There are many beautiful EB's in Australia hailing from top kennels in both the UK and France.  Most exhibited, however, are shown as the breed is in the US.
Sorry, I put it the wrong way in my first post.

Thanks for the feedback from "Down Under" - I was wondering if anyone knew what breed/s he owned and whether he had a gundog background?   He certainly seems to be down to judge a number of breeds from various groups.

Mr Vernon owns Labradors and is able to judge Group 1 (Toys), Group 3 (Gundogs),Group 4 (Hounds),Group 5 (Working Dogs),Group 6 (Utility)  and Group 7 (Non-Sporting).
