Discover DogsAs some of you may know i am organising the stand at Crufts this year.
The theme I am going to use is 'It's A Brittany Life'. To this end I am wanting some fresh photographs of Brittanys of all ages doing all sorts of things. Good and even bad things.
Does anyone object to use of any pictures posted on this site ?
Ideally high resolution pictures (150 dpi or better) although I can tweak lower value ones a bit.
At the moment I am proposing three 1/2 A4 handouts roughly focussed into Work, Rest, Play. A fourth one along the lines 'do you really want a Brittany? with info on the pros and cons of owning a Brittany.
Finally the stand will need to be manned with people and dogs on the four days. Volunteering gets you a car pass and entry pass - so a spell on the stand and a spell of shopping therapy :-) a small voucher for a snack lunch and hot drinks is given.
The dogs don't have to be 'champion' specimens and new owners are very welcome as I will pair an experienced owner with a novice owner.

Guy - you are welcome to use any photos of my guys that I have posted.
I am afraid I can't volunteer to be an actual 'helper' this year as I feel it will be too much for Mugi and anyway I have a guest for the weekend with her dogs.

I've a feeling John won't be left wanting for company.
Nice optical illusion there Guy. It looks as if there is something there to restrict the movement of your dog's .

Depending on how the Rud' Boy is behaving, Jim is happy to help man the stand after they have been in the ring (Ru' is in Veteran Dog, so first up at 08.30.) I would like to watch all the Brit' judging and maybe do a bit of shopping but willing and able to help out too.
We could have quite a party on Saturday afternoon

It's going to be a Brittany creche while we all take turns to shop and pick up freebies for giving out as prizes at the club shows
Two years ago, Richard and I got enough from Pedigree to give out at the June show and the Champ Show.........so all hands to the ready guys
Were there any signs of those protesters

Guy has done a great job by the way...I will try to get another French flag from Ebay ( don't know where the last one has disappeared!) and some more laminated posters if wanted. ie hawking, agility, obedience etc...Still have a cardboard full size brittany from Chris Wilce's days- many moons ago during a Nationale in Dinan-
Yesterday was quiet as regard crowds as it was Terriers and Hounds. Many want to take photos and pat the dogs. Catja proved very popular sitting outside the pen but only has eyes for her" Dad" . Her eyes were firmly fixed on where he might have gone and could not have cared less about Anyone else.
We went for a wonder round and found the Zimbabwe rescue dogs lady. Had a chat and the helper had a...Brittany ...who, guess what...was not good on coming back even at 7 months. Lately I have heard from 3 or 4 people whose dogs simply run off and I admit to being despondant as to what is going wrong ????
Maybe you would like to share your experiences?
On the way out of Crufts, I must thank Linda and Eddie for volunteering to hang on to see us out of the building as I had left my passes on the stand and they were gone! Had to find the stand to collect up a new cosy bed-bought Hall 3- for the dogs- which was at the end of hall 5
How would we get out without a pass? well, Alan found a door unattended! Then off we finally go and missed the M6 turning, put sat nav on and ended up going through Coventry..the Sat Nav nearly went out of the window!!!
I hope you all have a great day on Saturday. Watch out fot the Antis and mind the dogs...

Antis...My son called me saying radio 1 was telling of people being targeted with eggs and NOT to leave dogs unattended or anything. Better be safe than sorry. As we did Dicover dogs, we were in East 1 and there it was quiet...

Thanks Patricia....I shall aim to be in there as it is easier to walk over to the hall. Hopefully Merlin will enjoy the walk and it MAY quieten him down a little
Does that mean we can take eggs and throw them back

Preferably fossilised dinosaur eggs

'Jumping Jacks' would be more applicable, I would say...and I am not meaning the little firecracker that was once politically correct for little boys to scare the begingas out of we little girls...obviously they have truly double standards...using the ova of hens...

Just a quick post to say thank you to all those who helped run the stand. It is after all the people not the stand that make the difference to how people perceive the breed.
We had a very nice time and did DD again on Sunday - and to beat any interruptions came in for 7.30 so I lost count of how many times i saw the lady who check up that the stand is manned. Met some lovely people.
Public thanks particularly to Pat Hibbs who attended every day and guided any new comers through the 'routines' and of course collected our 'donations from Crufts.
The 'team' were...
Pat and Alan,
Vic Haines, Gill Dyer, John Hod and family - particularly Haley whose presence changed the demographics of the people stopping to talk
Steve Wright.
Jan
AND not forgetting the various Brittany Hosts each day - who were of course little stars.
Many thanks.

Certainly on Saturday, when we had three entire males together in the pen, with only a couple of seconds sorting out the pecking order (in a very low key manner) people were commenting on the temperament on the dogs
By the way, I was approached by a South African man who had Brittanys and was looking to import a couple of pups to improve the bloodlines.
I said I'd ask if anyone was expecting to breed this year and pass their details to him, if he contacts me again (provided they don't object)

I know one thing......my feet are KILLING me
Many thanks to the Eukanuba stall who provided lots of fruity cocktails [FREE] and also Pro-Plan for the tea, coffee and bottles of water, again all FREE
All in all I don't reckon that we missed Pedigree much, it was nice to have the extra space. And, the only protesters turned up on Sunday. They wandered up and down a couple of times outside the main entrance and were then told to B....r off. No trouble atall

Message from Jess: How could you go on the Eukanuba stand????
Proplan is superior!!! Just a little boast from me now: Jessie has secured the Royal warrant for the Queen's Corgis and the Dorgi until 2011. So, those lovely little dogs are fed Proplan, Jess has been to Windsor to look after the Her Majesty's kennel maid...And will do so again

They were giving free drinks away.....who am I to turn down a free drink, even if it was non-alcoholic
Well done Jess

Doing the 'washing up' - could I trouble anyone who still has any leftover beverage tokens to post them back to me - it is very useful to have extras in hand to provide drinks to any extra helper next year. Many thanks.
