fundraising

In case anyone is interested the  total sum raised on easyfundaraising for the Brittany Club has reached £650
sallie

Well done to all involved..... but how is that money spent? Is it for: Rescue; Education; Subsidising the newsletter; Postage; Breed information; Paying for trainers  Wink

Not sure of the answer to that so I'll leave someone else to answer the question.  Just to say that I wouldn't necessarily separate rescue and education.  I'd be supportive of money raised for rescue being used for educational purposes.  Hopefully, a more educated public would lead to a reduction in the number of dogs requiring rescuing.

It's put been put into the Wl;fare fund up until now - and that sum has accumulated over a few years.

I agree, John, any ideas on how to spend Welfare fund money in respect of education?

And talking of education, what do you think the members would like to " know" about and get educated about? What would interest them? Over to you now Wink
A first aid demonstration has been talked about, that concerns owners across the board, ideas???

My personal thoughts on education are that the literature we have to hand out at Crufts, Game Fairs etc looks amateurish compared to some of the breeds. We also rely too much on the good will of members printing and photocopying stuff.....

Have a wander round some of the Stands at Discover Dogs etc and you will see some very good literature.

I am not thinking we should go totally up market but it should be feasible to produce a small flyer for general distribution and then a more in-depth guide to the breed for more interested parties with a list of regional contacts.

For general education then I think doing a First Aid course would be a super idea but when to offer it? Le Weekend is already well over-subscribed with activities but it may be possible to offer something on a different date with perhaps a subsidised fee for Club Members then opening up the day to Non-Club Members if we needed more bums on seats Laughing . The list is endless if we wanted to tap in to knowledge available through the club, a day on nutrition, a day on the perils and pitfalls (and joys) of breeding for the novice - where all topics from health, rearing, selecting stock, responsibility for the puppies. I could go on but to my mind the biggest constraint on any of these things comes down to the fact we are only a fairly small number of enthusiasts who are well spread throughout the UK(and beeyond) so setting up anything up to appeal to a large enough number will always be difficult.

As a lapsed user of easyfundraising (because, at the time of last use...a shamefully long time ago..., not many of the shopping sites I used were members) I would urge everyone who hasn't to have another look, because it now has a lot of mainstream sites and also offers discount codes - so everyone benefits javascript:emoticon('Laughing').  I'll certainly be using it as my first port of call in future.

As regards education: perhaps a 'postcard' version of the Brittany Readiness Quiz?

I've emailed Donald on the postcard idea
