Glen

Following a call today from our Club Secretary Paul, I have been down to St. Albans and picked up a 7 month old orange and white dog puppy. The people he was with had had him for a total of two days. They had got him from a gentleman in his 70s who had started gundog training with him but was finding it hard to keep up with him Exclamation .
These people had read Bruce Fogle's book and they say it recommends the Brittany as 'the Perfect Pet' no mention of the amount of excercise etc to keep the dog happy Exclamation I am afraid that both Janette and I told them they should have done their homework and gone to see what these dogs are like before buying one. They live on the edge of a very busy main road and had nowhere to let the dog off the lead. Poor boy was sat outside in the pouring rain when I got there.
He is well mannered and responds to whistle and hand signals, he also walks to heel on a loose lead. Anyone who wants a dog to train up to the gun would be very lucky if they took on this boy. He has been legally docked and he also travels well in the car. I will put pictures up tomorrow.

Contact me or Paul in the first instance.

Jan, can you give Donald a bit about him for the rescue pages on the  website please, as well as the photos.  Margaret likes to put them on there.  Is there any way of working out who his breeder is as she likes to contact them too if possible.
Thanks
Annie

He really is a lovely boy, if I didn't have the two I would have taken him on.

He looks a poppet  love2   I hope the right home comes along real soon.
Ghilliegumdrop

The right home has come along and Glen has now gone 'home' where he will live the life of Riley, being allowed on the bed and going everywhere with his new owner. He will also be out rough shooting at every opportunity Very Happy
Lin Dyke

That is brilliant news.  Very Happy   Didn't think he'd have too long a wait  Smile

I can stop sitting on my hands now  Wink

I can cancel my train booking and dog sitter for the trip down to collect him then  Rolling Eyes
Is it a Club member who has taken him? Someone you already know maybe, Jan?
Ghilliegumdrop

Not a club member but I was put in touch by a clu member who has Large Munsterlanders. He is also well known to Rory and Jane and has made arangements to go back over there on Sunday for some tips Exclamation
Why were you coming down to collect him Question  Question
doganjo

That's great. For the asme reason Lyn was sitting on her hands

No good you having him, he needed to work Exclamation

That's brilliant news Jan. I haven't responded to the post as I knew i'd end up having him  Embarassed

Thank goodness for the new home, I might have ended up getting divorced and living in bliss with an expanding number of brittany pups  Very Happy

To be honest, when I showed Craig the pics he nearly caved.

Hope you don't miss him too much x

"No good you having him, he needed to work "

What is it with you two??? Rolling Eyes Sarcasm??
I give credit to Anne in the fact that she is trying to work her dog.
It is not easy and I was lucky to have had a lot of help and encouragement from John and Enice Lambert early on. And a husband who helps with the dogs too. Anne does not have that luck. Confused
Even now, I can call on my GSP friend etc...It often is not what you know but WHO you know.
And knowing Rory has made things even easier Cool
doganjo

It's OK Patricia, and everyone else who noticed the sarcasm.  Jan and I are good friends and we understand each other - she is trying to goad me into doing more with Allez and probably thinks I should see Bill every week with him - Sorry, Jan I do not have that kind of money! Nor to send him away for training so I just have to muddle on as best I can.  But no more training diaries as it brings further criticism. If Allez makes the grade on shoots that's fine, if he doesn't that's fine too.  I will love him to bits no matter what he does or doesn't do. Wink
