Mugi

Goodbye Sweetie

This afternoon Mugi has gone for his final sleep.

He died peacefully in my arms at the vets after a morning of sitting in the sun together in the Cotswolds followed by a run on a wide grass ride on the Cotswold Way - actually the place where he pointed his first pheasant.

I never truly appreciated how much one special dog could change your life but in the short time Mugi was in my life he has left me a gift that cannot be quantified.

First the love he gave, wholeheartedly and so generously. Then the friends he has brought me and the greatest gift - a new way of life. Before Mugi I didn't have a clue about working dogs and one little lad with a natural talent has taught me things that couldn't be learned from a book.

I will always miss him but will never regret having him in my life even though riight at the moment I do wonder why I chose to set myself as owning dogs is always bittersweet.

So run free my sweet boy - you hold a place that is special in many hearts and will be sorely missed.

Oh Sue, the tears are flowing for this very special boy and his very special lady.  All our hearts will be reaching out to you at this sad time.

He had such a wonderful life with you and your other boys.  You brought so much to one anothers lives during your time together.

I feel honoured to have known Mugi and will miss him very much.  The memory of him and his non-stop tail at Crufts is a joy to hold.

RIP Mugi      angel13

He'll never be forgotten by anyone who had the good fortune to meet him Sad  Sad

Quote:
The best place to bury a dog
" If you bury him in this spot, he will
come to you when you call -
come to you over the grim, dim frontier
of death, and down the well-remembered
path, and to your side again.

" And though you call a dozen living
dogs to heel, they shall not growl at
him, nor resent his coming,
for he belongs there.

" People may scoff at you, who see
no lightest blade of grass bent by his
footfall, who hear no whimper, people
who may never really have had a dog.
Smile at them, for you shall know
something that is hidden from them,
and which is well worth the knowing.

" The one best place to bury a good
dog is in the heart of his master."

Good bye Mugi.   Sue, Bill and I were so grateful that you were there to take on Mugi when he came back to us at 10 years old.   You gave him the chance to develop his natural working ability and live his last couple of years to the full.   He gained many friends, combining his mother’s gentle nature and his sire’s love of work.

Run free little boy.   You live on in many people’s hearts.

Dear old Mugi....he will be missed by a lot of people Sue....lots of hugs to you from us.

Poor old Mugi, I didn't know him for long but he was a lovely old boy, glad you were able to spend some quality time with him in such nice surroundings before his demise. My thoughts are with you, it is never a happy time. Take care. Lynda.

This little dog was lucky to have met you and have so many " special moments" the chance to work, to love, to play and share wonderful times with you...I know we will all "get back" with our four legged friends one day. To us, dog people, they mean as much as a loved person...

Somehow I missed your post yesterday Sue. Sorry to hear about Muji. You've given him a good life while you had him and it's nice to think that he was carrying on with various activities until quite recently. Sad to think that you've lost such a friend but I'm sure he would have smiled and said "thanks for everything" if he could have.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
i am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Having been offline this weekend I have only just caught up.  I knew the time was coming from your previous posts but it is always hard at the end.  Mugi was very special and you were both very lucky to have found each other.  He and you have been such great ambassadors for our breed.
Goodnight, Mooj

Was sorry to hear of your loss.

Mugi

Oh Jim - thanks for that. I have never seen how Mugi shows really as the only time Liz showed him for me I was hiding. He certainly wagged a lot and I don't regret taking him that day.

Mugi

Mugi couldn't have had a better home.  I am sat in the office crying my eyes out, a good job no one else is here!  Love the video at Crufts.  You have so many happy memories of him.  How is Chase doing?  Hopefully not missing him too much.

Mugi

Poor Chase is missing Mugi loads. He is off balance and clingy and in the house he is not settling. I was out all day Sat with the boys and stayed away Sat night then yesterday was the Judging Seminar but as soon as we got home Chase ran all over looking for Mugi.

The other boys don't miss him at all although they know I am sad.

Early days though for all of us, last time I lost a dog it was Brice who struggled but I know a balance of time, a little leeway on some but not all behaviours and they do come round so I will give Chase a little space while making sure he doesn't work me too much Wink .

I'm so sorry Sue. I can not imagine what you are going through. I'm thinking of you all and sending you love x

Sue,

I havent kept up with the forum lately, so I am really sorry for this late response.

" Cry not that he has gone - but smile because he was here".

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mugi, but enjoyed all the posts and stories about him.
You gave him a wonderful time, so treasure the memories and be proud you made an old dog so very happy.

Rest In Peace Mugi, you deserve it!

Our thoughts are with you,

Chris, Barry, Spice, Kip and Sophie.
