Mugi
|
HelloHi Everyone.
Four weeks ago Mugi came to live with me - he is a wonderful 10 yr old boy and he has settled in very well. I also own a 4.5 yr old welsh springer who is now best mates with Mugi. The only rather large fly in the ointment is Brice my 2 yr old deerhound - Mugi is scared of him and this manifested in a whopping fight. Deerhound lost to Brittany!!!!
Mugi is enjoying hunting pheasant - he is a natural although previously a city dweller. He has also had a go at agility and his general behaviour is wonderful (although some is probably just his settling in manners ).
Looking forward to learning more about this fab breed.

Have fun, and good luck with the settling in process. I had heard about the agility - talk about teac

Hi Sue; an acquaintance of mine has two deerhounds; she said that when she has enough money she is going to build a little flat next to the house for herself; she said that every night it is a race for the lounge chairs; the dogs invariabling winning!! Go Mugi!!

What Sue doesn't say in her intro is she was supposed to be getting a Weimaraner - and she's got instead an undersized, mismarked, long-haired Weimaraner, who's shut his tail in a door!
Mugi has definitely fallen on his feet with her! I think he's converted her to the breed.

Thank you.
ps - Yes I did find Mugi while abortively looking to rescue an older weim. My next dog will probably be a weim cos I want to do Working Trials with one and although I am sure a Brit would be game their physique would be against them as they will class as Full Height dogs. After that though I have a sneaky suspicion that my home may be Brittany led .

The line I will be getting my pup from has been very successful in this field with (notional at the mo) auntie winning a ticket, granny CDex and potential mummy about to start competing but showing oodles of promise. Mind you the potential sire is doing well at Working TESTS so I could possibly go either way.
Needs editing to say Granny of pup is now UDex after a good performance on saturday.

Working Tests and Working TrialsWorking Tests are purely Gundog based tests - hunting, pointing, retrieving in our case. Working Trials could be classed as the same level as our Field Trials and they use the all the attributes of the dog - nose work, agility, obedience, endurance, strength etc. As Sue says the Brittany perhaps doesn't have the stature for these. Hester's (my GWP) sire was a WT Ch, he worked with a Police Handler, and he was particularly good at tracking, but he fell off an A frame so lacked confidence after that. Hester has an excellent nose too but unfortunately has very sensitive hearing so John rarely shot over her and didn't enter her in Field Trials. An Italian gentleman who was to have a puppy from me has been taking her out training and hopes to take her shooting with a silenced gun.
