Congratulations to all of you. My friends daughter was born last Friday as well...just before we went into the ring at Cruft's  They have called her Ava Bethany and, as her last name is Smith, I reckon she will have a good set of brakes [ her gran don't like it either  ] the Bethany bit is nice but, Ava, I ask you, where do they get some of these names, it's very hard sounding for a little one 
Some names I don't think should be used for children;
Ethel
Myrtle [I knew a girl called Mrytle who changed her name to Muriel]
Willamena
Doris
Any name that can be shortened to sound like a boy if it's a girl thats got it and vise versa

Do you mean like Alex?
Because I have a friend and a cousin both called Alex, ones a boy and ones a girl. It can get confusing.
