Introduction from new forum member - Kiswahili

Good morning to everyone,

I am new to Brittany ownership and thought a Forum would be a good place to learn about the breed. I have just one Brittany at the moment who is now 6 months old - his name is Eastonite Dapper aka Daniel the Spaniel, Danny to his friends.

A little about me - I have been showing Pointers under the Kiswahili affix for about 23 years now. We have enjoyed reasonable success along the way and thoroughly enjoy the show scene, most of the time! We have bred CC and RCC winners with quite a few owned and/or bred gaining stud book awards. We are both on Breed Club judging lists, me on the A3 and my husband, Royston, on the B lists.

We are breeders of the 2008 Halfway Leaders (Joint) Top Pointer and Top Pointer Puppy at the halfway stage - Kiswahili Martin of Kanix - in the Our Dogs competition.

Our website is www.kiswahilipointers.co.uk

I have wanted a smaller Gundog breed for a while and always admired the Brittanies that I had seen. I didn't want a heavily coated breed - tried that and don't have the skill or patience - and wanted one that could enjoy life with the Pointers. For me the Brittany was the only one that 'ticked all the boxes'.

Danny came to us at about 14 weeks old and he settled in straight away. I am impressed by his ability to learn so quickly and his delightful, happy temperament. I know very little about the breed really, other than what I have read, but I hope to learn much more as I get to know the breed.

Anyway, that's it for now. Look forward to learning from you all - I am a member of other online forums and found them to be very useful.

Hi and welcome.  There are plenty of people on the forum with lots of experience if the Brittany.  If there's anything you need to know someone will have the answer for you (you may have to pick from lots of answers, as everyone has there own ways of doing things and something that works for one britt won't necessarily work for the next one).

Good luck, you've chosen a great breed.

John
