It's in May this year - 31st!

To be held on 31st May this year - same venue as last year - the beautiful grounds of Stanford Hall - with Rory Major as Trainer.  Cost is £25 per handler and dog, with lunch included for handlers, £5 for extra lunches.
PM me if you would like to come, observers and families welcome too.

That sounds very worthwhile attending.  Will give it due consideration ( Exclamation ) and pm you when less exhausted after two days of Discover Dogs and so overtired I know I wont sleep for at least another hour or so  Shocked  Rolling Eyes

Do you know if there is anywhere that is dog friendly to stay within walking distance as we have 3 trains to catch which means a days long travelling with bags and Monet!!  Confused
johnhod

You can put us down for it Annie.  Great ground and trainer, couldn't afford not to go.  Could you arrange for the weather to be like last year?
Mugi

As I emailed I am certainly up for it Annie and hopefully my friend will take a place too so provisionally 2 handler places required here.
Annie as admin

There is accommodation nearby but not within walking distance - phone one of us here with your train times (Rugby is close I think)and someone will collect you and also take you to B & B which ever we all decide to go to - we try to keep together if we can.

We camped last year, nice site, but it was a fair distance away.  If there is a reasonably priced B&B it would be worth considering.

Not sure about Catthorpe - think they have a wedding that weekend so rooms booked up - will check.

Presumtious you, aren't you - booked your bed for SKC too, I'll start charging soon!  Well, maybe not, I have a few B & B's to catch up on, haven't I?
Any more for the housewarming after SKC?

You should get lots of replies to that one Annie....I gave out ALL the details at Cruft's Exclamation  Exclamation  Exclamation

Caravans, motor homes and dogs welcome at Stanford but not tents as they have no toilet facilities.

Prices: £10.00 per unit per night inclusive of VAT and electric hook-up. This covers two adults and two children. Additional persons are £1.50 per person, per night. There is no charge for awnings or dogs.

I've asked Stanford for a list of B & Bs as the hotels look pretty pricey

Another quiz would be fun Annie   Smile
johnhod

It would be good if a few more turned up to the pub this time.  There was a very poor turn out last year.
Annie

I think the problem is where Stanford is - the pub we used wasn't very helpful.  I'll ask Margaret if she can recommend another one nearby.  If we could guarantee the weather we could have a barbecue.
Naomi

Sounds great, and the quiz was great fun too. Don't think I'll stay the night this time though, I really don't do well if I don't get sleep lol and we're only about 25 miles away so Chris said he didn't mind doing the drive home Smile

Additonal News!!!

John Anderson just phoned to tell me that the KC have given us permission to run a Working Gundog Certificate on the day of the SPT.  Entries will be taken on the day.  Same two judges as for the SPT but no more entries accepted than the 12 for the SPT.  There are 5 entries in already so get your skates on.  Information for the Working Gundog Certificate here - http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=470

Entry number 6 has now been received certainly. Mugi has entered the 'arena' to see if he can achieve his WGC, Chase is nowhere near ready and I would not want to try to rush him into water or retrieving through/over obstacles in the next two weeks just so we can 'have a go' so he will solely do the SPT. John didn't fall over laughing when I handed him Mugi's entry but it is on the understanding that Mugi's entry will be scratched if there are too many entries from more appropriately aged dogs.
Guest

I don't agree with scratching him if younger dogs come along - he is just as entitled to have a go as any of them and you can tell John I said so!
Mugi

It is my idea to scratch him if there are more age appropriate entries not Johns.

At the end of the day if there are more people with younger Brittanys wanting the opportunity then I think they should not miss out but I would like to see if he can gain the award. I know he can work on a shoot and impress people so he has nothing to prove to me or anyone else and he won't care if he has a certificate or not but it would be nice to see him achieve it.

The way I look at it is Mugi may not have many more opportunites so he should have preference!
guy

Sue, I have sent two entries in and will happily stand Topaz down to let Mugi have a go.
Mugi

Thank you Guy, I do appreciate Mugi having a chance to prove he can do it although perhaps we can see how he, and I, feel on the day if the event is oversubscribed. I would hate to deprive Topaz if one or other is under par.

That's Ok - you can change dogs, Sue probably will too.
Mugi

I will swap dogs if Chase starts to get overwhelmed, it will be a long day for the youngsters but as much as possible it will be him.

Annie, will have a word with Hollie this evening and get back to you.
guy

might be a useful tool - to put him away for a while unless he plays by your rules.
