JUdge at BlackpoolHi you all,
The judge at Blackpool is a Dr Annukka Paloheimo from Finland. Has he judged Brits here in the UK before and if so where and when?

I have a feeling that she judges Cavaliers and also owns them.....may well be wrong though. She also judges terriers and ridgebacks.
As for Brittanys I don't remember her judging Brittanys before so you pays your money and takes your chances.
Look her up on google and it will give you more information.

Many thanks and thanks for the web site very good. When I saw her photo I remembered her but I had a blank moment (I know I am getting old) I was hoping that she had judged us before and that I didn't have to go to Blackpool as it is such a long way!

Might not go anyway, the more I think of the drive the more I want to stay at home.

I know the feeling, it usually comes over you at some ungodly hour of the morning

Yes I agree in fact since I have been writting this I have decided not to go just too far and I would be going on my own. I would have loved a try at the group judge IF I had of got BOB.
Still always another another show (closer to home) Ha Ha.

Notice there's no FCI group 7 in her list of qualifications

mind you with that number of dogs to her name I suspect she could make a pretty good interpretation of a breed standard.
Perhaps the organisers don't know that Brittanys aren't spaniels and therefore not Group 8??

Meriel Hathaway, a lady I have great respect for. She is one of the best judges I know. And did you know she has never been given a group or BIS at Crufts and now she is to old.

Agree Gill...Meriel is a lovely Lady, very kind and polite and I respect her judging. Can't be said for everyone!

I like her judging as well, she liked the Ghilldog enough to give her a CC at LKA in 2005.

AND my Freckles at the Club Champ Show in 2006 I think. She has also given talks at a couple of our Seminars - a truly lovely lady, but knows her own mind and does her own thing. If she believes the BOB Brittany is good enough to be placed in the Group she'll do it, if not she won't!
No idea what the Breed Judge will do - anybody's guess with a CV like that! Pay your money and take your chance - I won't be there.

I will not change my mind I am not going to Blackpool and that is that. When I say I am going to do something I do! I have just spent the petrol money on some new shingle for the dogs run so I am broke.
I do hope to go to Windsor next week I am going with the English Setter judge so it will be a freebe and she will get me a lunch ticket. (which is worth it at that show).
Lets hope the weather holds.

I have to accept the blame for Moss only getting reserve best dog, I definitely shouldn't have tried to get him prancing around the ring. Hayley does it so much better, but Ben will only go flat out when he's with me so I had even less chance of controlling him. Next time (if there is one) I'll explain to the judge that I'm only there to hold the lead.

Pity the entry was so poor. Perhaps word got out about which breeds she owns?

or maybe people just don't want to show under a judge where the result isn't a foregone conclusion

John, Am I reading this right? Were YOU the handler at Blackpool? If so, poor Hayley, all the hard work she puts in and then you bring home the prize.

I forgot to say - many congratulations on your success.

I would have gone but ........... dogs bar Chase needed to go to kennels and with the 'olds' to sort I knew I would be pushed for time getting ready for France.
Good job I didn't as I am only just about sorted and I go tomorrow.

Not through choice. Ben won junior dog and Moss won open dog, so both had to go through to best dog. The judge decided she wanted the dogs run round the ring and as there was more chance of Moss moving for me I took him and Hayley took Ben. It's Hayley's award anyway. All I did was mess it up for her
