Le WeekendIf anyone hasn't sent in their booking form yet please remember the 26th is the last day. Margaret says the accommodation is pretty filled up so if anyone needs beds for Friday, Saturday or Sunday 9th, 10th, 11th October let her know ASAP.
Guy, are the German people still coming - I don't think Margaret has anything from them yet.

Yes the German people are coming - I put their application form in the post days ago - hope it has not got lost in the delayed mail.

Margaret said she'd got yours but without accommodation booked. Is that right. Was the other one posted separately?

Of course - I forgot about that. I'll remind her about the postal strike so she can keep the list open another day or two.

I am now in charge of table arrangements Who sits where, if you have not written down a preference, don't blame me or anyone else
Feel free to email me! I am sure we'll have a great international evening.

I'm not fussy - put me anywhere - I can get on with most people - at least for a few hours anyway

I'd better get a wiggle on and book Saturday night B&B, & Saturday lunch, Club Dinner and Saturday activities....

Yes, you'd better - accommodation is filling up fast. Remember we were almost full last year and it's going the same way.

What a great weekend. Plenty to do all day Saturday and some superb judging on Sunday

We really enjoyed ourselves - maybe because I didn't have to work this year
There was a real buzz on Saturday evening, and I just wish my French was better so I could have followed all the judge was saying on Sunday. So nice to have someone in the middle of the ring who was clearly enjoying himself.

Anne Eissing
|
Who was the judge? Do you have some results?
|
Mugi
|
The judge was M Corre and even without understanding his french you could see quite clearly what he was looking for in his winners.
BOB was Eastonite Tamoshanter
RBOB was Pixbrook Vanessa
One disappointment was that there were no puppies in the ring at all.

What a great week end and what lovely atmosphere
We so enjoyed meeting Andrea and Herman from Germany and catching up with our old friends David and Sophie Hayes from Ireland. A true International affair with Mieur & Mme Corre too...All passionate people with some good Bretons for the judge.
Reserve doc CC was Daraydala Beaumont belonging to Andrea and Reserve BCC was our " famous" Janet Taylor" Ghillie"
Most interesting and educational judging, brilliant activities in the good hands of Guy plus Vic Haynes, also agility, in brief something for everyone. Thanks to Guy and Herman for spending their lunch time with two of my puppy people. I am now convinced they will get firmly involved in club activities.
TAN was well run in long grass this time and with nice quail!!!
The winner of the "Run Off" was Tournesol Dior belonging to JP Whitfield and runner up my Djinnie who decided she would help herself to the quail when the cage door accidently came open. Quail still alive!!!
I have had a super week end-long I will say- Fantastic... Warm Congratulations to the winners... Mick's Ruby won from the Field trial class, well done again
I have 2 new souvenirs from yesterday: An engraved Brittany glass for the TAN kindly donated from Herman and ...the most beautiful head shot of Chase on canvas which is stunning...Thank you Sue

What an excellent weekend and great to see lots of new faces taking part and enjoying themselves and we were blessed with a lovely day on Saturday for the outdoor events. Congratulations to Mr Whitfield and Duke for winning the TAN and to Patricia and Djinnie also.
Many congratulations to Amanda for her Best in Show with Eastonite Tamoshanter and to Mick for Reserve Best in Show with Pixbrook Vanessa and to Andrea & Jan for their RCC's with Daraydala Beaumont & Brittyhill Sorrel.
I also really enjoyed the judging and would loved to have heard all that Monsieur Corre was saying. I look forward to reading his critique which should be several pages long by the amount Kathy was writing!!

Ghillie showed her little socks off she was such a star and so pleased with herself. Thanks to Pauline and Michael for letting me have her 8 years ago. Well done to every one else that won and were placed.....our Club shows just get better and better. We have some really nice people as members, not to forget our visitors who came from far and wide to be with us.
Not forgetting Merlin's clear round in the Agility on Saturday.......17.12 seconds, I'm still not sure how he did it

Just noticed the request for Sean Bean Just as good as the one for Les Dawson!!!! Sorry Jan, I am sure he is past it and where did my cucumber get to????!!!
Great work on the tables and all preparation for the night...Flowers and tables settings courtesy of Jeanette Yarrow et Gay( beautiful arrangements)
Fabulous spread for the canapes courtesy of Sue Coveney. You all did the Club proud. I will add the judge thought you were all a really good bunch, the British seemingly happy, churpy and not like sometines...the French
Also second time I hear from French judges that the dogs looked well cared for, loved and well behaved in an indoor environment

It was sold off to some poor unsuspecting person
As for Sean....I reserve judgement till I can find out for myself

I really should have mentioned it before but thanks to everyone who contributed to the tombola and raffle and of course to those who bought tickets. There were one or two people (well definitely one) who kept returning and trying again for a tombola prize just to go away empty handed, better luck next time.
We had some really lovely prizes for the raffle on Saturday night. It was worth paying for the meal just to be able to buy tickets (that's not meant to be disparaging of the meal which I also enjoyed). I don't think I've ever seen people so excited at the thought of winning one of Jans now infamous Gnomes.

Collector's editions those are, and in the Club's colours too [although that was accidental I must admit] Still I'm sure they will come up trumps at the next Club show and there will be another little man waiting for his forever home

I try to get to most of the Club shows I possibly can and I can safely say that last Sunday was the best I'd been to. I raise my hat to all who took part, the organisers, the handlers, most certainly the judge but above all the dogs who I thought were stunning. After the first couple of classes I stopped making my 'dogs I'd like to take home list' it was much easier to take a catalogue home. John and I did make opposing bids to Patricia and Jessica to take one of their dogs off their hands, but for some reason we were turned down!!!
I really enjoyed M. Corre's judging, his body language was such that, as others have said, you didn't have to hear him to understand what he was looking for. I was particularly struck by the way he tried to get the best response from every dog and his obvious dispair when on occasions he failed.
Again I'd like to thank everyone who took part on Sunday for making it such a memorable occassion, I could almost be persuaded to start showing!

Always great to see old and new faces- One side of the Ch show is the so many people we get to catch up with ( including you Keith!!! and I apologise for being engrossed in the judging )
As we left for home, David Hayes tried again to smuggle Baileys in his trailer
Sorry little Baileys stays in Suffolk where she snuggled on the settee right away
Indeed there were many stunning dogs present and a great line up...
|
Mugi
|
I think Baileys nearly got a brother too as David was taken with Brice (not sure he would have folded into their dog trailer though ) mind you, she might prefer Brice to Danny as I think Brice is probably lower maintenance in the needy stakes .
Chase, like his sister is cuddled by my side on the sofa. Although he didn't take part in anything at Catthorpe he had a busy weekend with his journey to Surrey on sat. I have read on another forum that he is classed as the dog who will 'play with anything' as he doesn't see that others won't love him.
I really enjoyed the weekend ........... but next year I want all classes attended and all winners of classes to be club members and wanting to take their trophies as my spare room is FULL!!!

We had a fantastic time Great fun taking part in the sprint, looked as though we had a certain winner in our heat, only for him to veer off to the woods and bunny smells a foot from the line
Saturday evening was excellent, great canapes and Kir Thanks to Sue Coveney and our Chairman and his wife Good dinner and lots of fun during the raffle and auctions....(wonder if Jayne and Richard have managed to "break" those whistling gnomes yet )
The judging on Sunday was very interesting to watch. I do hope M. Corre and his wife had a much more relaxed journey home.
We will certainly be back for more next year

The whole weekend was super. Very many thanks to everyone who helped to make it such a success.
Congratulations to the winners on Saturday and at the Show on Sunday. We are all so lucky to have such lovely dogs.
One of the highlights for me was when little Emily stood on a chair and bid £20 on her Daddy's behalf for a Whistling Gnome. Both Emily and Lily seemed delighted with it (not so sure about Dad )
Just a little reminder please - Despite numerous requests, on Monday morning we still managed to find half a dozen 'filled poo bags' which had been abandoned in bushes etc. These will not rot down - they need to be put in the bags/bins provided. Our dogs do us proud - we should not let them down in this way
|
doganjo
|
Hear hear to all of that - including the poo left lying. Richard did the rounds multiple times - finding deposits and filled bags every time! This must NOT happen again.

If the response to the requests not to breed sable, to only breed hip scored dogs and to abide by the numerous other "rules" we have in place are met with the same blatant disregard as the request to clean up after your dog I worry for the future of the breed.
Many thanks to those who carried out the clean up on behalf of the inconsiderate scum who couldn't be bothered doing it themselves
|
Patricia
|
I agree John...It is not fair for poor old Richard to have had to conduct such a " task". Nothing difficult to pick up after your dogs, we don't want to be like French shows where you are hard pushed not to stand in dog mess Shame on those owners

Ditto from us. We picked up some "cold" poo whilst exercising Rudi.

lunch time on SaturdayHaving just joined the forum I have been spending some time reading through all the old posts.
I am one of Patricia's "puppy people", and my Maisie is one of the puppies helped by Herman and Guy on Saturday lunch time. They were very generous with their time, and gave Maisie and her sister Ellie a valuable experience, and me lots of advice! This seems like a good place to have it on record how much it was appreciated, and also to say how much my family and I enjoyed meeting such friendly people.
Hope to see you all again!

Thank you Kate. This means a lot to the Committee members who work their socks off to make is a good day - there is a lot of preparation for months ahead. Thanks again. I will email this round to the Committee since they don't all use the forum.

Just for the record I did pick up clover's poo mind you it should go without saying really
I am itching to read the critique on my little girl (hint hint), she did so well to come 1st against only herself

Paris, she did very well - the phrase I've used is 'Stood alone, but would win in company'
I think the critiques will be in the Newsletter out at Christmas. Remember Gay is waiting for articles - oops, she's waiting for mine - better go finish it!

What made the week end so enjoyable...Catch up with old friends, get to know new people, meet Hermann and his wife, have a laugh with David and Sophie Hayes, look at some really nice dogs, appreciate well run working events, but also...see some of my pups again-and witness the fact they can do the job they're bred to do and are well loved
