We have had two rescue brits for some time now and been members of the club. What we haven't had is much time to surf the net so have only just come across this web site (I'm having a quiet work moment but don't tell the boss!).
We decided on the breed having visited the Royal Armouries in Leeds and come across Jenny (who is apparently related to my boy). Echo and Cassie came to us via Steve Izzod who had them both in as rescues 2000/2001.
Echo came to us aged 18 months and has been a challenge. He is so independent and head strong at times. He never does things by halves either and has given us some heart stopping moments on occasion together with regular trips to the vets for cuts and scrapes, the occasional foreign object ending up in the wrong place (swallowing tights, blades of grass inhaled deep into a lung) but I wouldn't swop him for the world. He is terrified of fireworks and thunder which gives us a great excuse for a holiday round bonfire night. We've tried everyting we can think of to help him but nothing hsa worked so far.
Cassie came to us as five year old who had been rehomed twice before. She was nervous of Pete to start with but soon got over that. Echo tormets the life out of her given the opportunity. She wasn't sure what playtime meant at the start but now at the age of twelve throws herself around with abandon when the mood takes her. She is showing some signs of age and I've been in touch with Annie Massie for some advice regarding joint problems/stiffness. Now my main problem is getig her off the bed on a morning to go for a walk, she doesn't enjoy those 6.00am starts!
The main thing to remember with rescues is give them lots of time and love and make sure you have lots and lots of patience and nerves of steel.

No it's Gene, not Jenny - I fostered her as a rescue, she was born 2/2/91 and bred by Kathy Gorman. Walgoreg Genevieve, Sire Joymonds Valet, Dam Dorvalstan Ursine de Walgoreg. James Buttle came to me looking for a bitch to train for the Tilt yard at the Armoury in Leeds, way back in 1994, and then to breed from but after having one puppy to our Brett(accidentally !!!!! I should add) we had had her spayed. However, he fell in love with her anyway, so we let him have her in exchange for a Club donation. I doubt if she is still around but she was the sweetest, kindest girl I've met and my daughter still hasn't forgiven me for letting James have her. I know that she enjoyed working with him though and she was obviously a good ambassador for our lovely breed if she got June and Pete hooked
