Midland CountiesJust seen the results from Midland Counties. Congratulations to all the winners but especially to Liz and Ozzie.
Well done also to Sue for BOB, to Barbara for breeding both Dog CC and Reserve CC and for getting the reserve bitch CC with Megan.

Agreed - Liz looked amazed but it was very well deserved. Jez showed really well for Sue and also well deserved her BOB.
A really nice day out.

Fantastic result all round so pleased for Liz and Bill and Barbara must be over the moon. Chuffed as nuts for Sue after her disapointment at club show and like Barbara I am also chuffed as nuts as I bred Chicita's mum. A big well done from Pixbrook

Well done Sue and Jez, and Barbara for her 2 RCCs as well.
We had a very happy car full on the way home as my friend won a hugh limit class with her Vizsla as well

Obviously Nutty sitting on my knee watching the Brits put her in the mood to shine, seriously though she is one nice vizsla.
The entry wasn't huge but a really nice collection of dogs.
............. and a huge hug to Catja and hope she is ok after a rest.

Well done everybody, glad you had a good time! How many dogs were entered?
What has Catja done to herself?

Well done to all.
Catja - I am sure she will bounce back- two field trials and a very hard day picking up in one week takes a toll.

It's so disappointing that entries have been dropping over the recent months. Down to the recession I guess - and the high cost of fuel. I believe there were 24 entries and 5 absentees.

Well done all who did well at Midland Counties, I did go and watch even though I didn't have the Mabeleen there.
I thought the entries were terrible and felt sorry for Kathy from having a huge entry at last years club show to about 23 at this show.
So what is the reason, was it because that horrible Mabeleen was winning well if that is so I expect the numbers to go up now. She will not be at LKA and then hopfully I will breed her.
I think if the numbers drop even more we can say goodbye to classes at Champ shows.

Many many congratulations to Liz and Ozzie on their first CC and as mentioned yesterday, I can't think a CC has been given to a tailed dog before (someone may know different!!)
I must admit it brought a tear to my eye.
Congratulations to Barbara with both Res CC's and of course to Sue and the BOB, one more to go and I know how that feels!!!! Don't forget though the lines behind her go on forever so even as a veteran she could still be winning!!
As far as entries go then yes, they have certainly dropped over the last few years, (docking ban didn't help with breeding litters) but it doesn't help when the judge has been in the ring 3 times in 3 years (sorry Kathy
) and we have had no young dogs at the last few shows, so it is basically the same entry.
We really need more CC judges on the list especially as the KC in their wisdom keep giving us more tickets. If our entries continue to fall then we may start to lose them again. Good or bad - I don't know.
Anyway see you all next year as I will be in Spain for LKA.
So Merry Christmas

Midland Counties is about 400 dogs down in the Working/Pastoral group. The entries are down all over and the recession is not over. And there are so many shows, so many sets of CC's even in our breed. I think too many...
I remember when we did not have any at all and had just as much fun. We actually entered Open shows and looked forward to the informal socialising when the breed was really new.
I so looked forward to meeting up with Margaret, Dolly, Kathy and Ray and Joyce Greenwood to learn what I could
More judges? Yes, as long as they are well qualified...
No puppies? Is it also because some of us can't enter docked puppies? So we have to choose between work and show????
My youngster falls into that category...so few shows for her but more work without worrying what may happen to her tail

Well, at the moment I can't get to Champ Shows.(too far to drive on my own) so have been going to heaps more Open ones - and they have the fun atmosphere that Patricia talks of. An added advantage is there are so many more of them in the middle of Scotland that then North. I'm out of the next few though till the pups are here and established. Might just make GBAS with a strip down and shower when I get home before going into the puppy room.
