Movement comparison!

I was having a really interesting conversation with the French Breeder of my bitch ( de Sous les Viviers) to let him know how she was getting on etc...
As always I try to glean as much info from these senior judges as we won't have them forever. Crying or Very sad
Discussing movement etc...I just really liked his description of the clipped movement of our breed. Like a little pig Very Happy
Now, why did I not think of that one? Never mind a Schipperke, just a piglet!!! Wink

I don't know if mine move like piglets but they both certainly eat like piglets Laughing  Laughing  Laughing .

Will have to go and find a few pig farms to look at the movement of the piggies Wink .

My friend Rosemary has pigs which are hopewfully to produce soon - I will ask if I can take a movie of them - that should be fun Crying or Very sad

These sort of graphic descriptions are really helpful to people like me. All too often people use terms which they assume everybody will be familiar with. I was sure I knew what the expression "clipped gait" meant but asked somebody who shows dogs, only to be given a completely wrong answer. I checked again with somebody else who confirmed that my original interpretation was correct.

It is all too easy, if you are very familiar with a subject, to assume that certain things are common knowledge and to ridicule those who don't know what you do.

Eddie, the Brittany does not have a flowing movement, not does it " drives" from behind with power like a Setter or Spaniel. It is actually not a very eye catching stride. But being short in back and moderate in rear angulations or should be) they move like...a little pig.
I challenge Anne to go down and take some little pigs's video and post it here!! Laughing
There are many little things one can pick up from some  French breeders with  40  plus years experience in the breed-  judging week in week out, not like the UK. Where you cannot judge more than once a year because of the geography of the country.
In France, the top judges are exposed to different Brittanys from different parts of France.
They know the breed inside out and see so many of them. Big diffrence. Wink

What has happened to your title of administrator Anne? Have some posts been deleted too today? Crying or Very sad
On the French Forum , if something is out of order ( or speak of cross breds or irrelevent stuff, they are simply moderated. And it works well Confused
Annie

No, nothing deleted - some posts split off to correct threads.  I'm logged in as myself today not as admin.  Only on as admin if stuff to sort out in future. I have a split personality ............ but then you all knew that didn't you?  Will try to find the link I split it to and post it here.  Sorry if anyone has lost it - just forgot to say.
