Nationale Gujan MaestrasI have spoken to Maryse Baudet, organiser of this year's Nationale...If anyone is interested: This is the link to contact: ne2009@cebfrance.fr
for all details, accomodation etc...The show and all dinners will be held in Gujan Maestras. This is a small place and I am told all roads are good and the distances between " bourgs" small.
For the Wine enthousiasts( like Alan ) vineyards visits- Medoc and St Emilion-can be arranged. The villages are descibed as " jewels".
Now beware, funnily enough some of the hotels and B&B's don't take dogs!!!
This looks as the organisation is already well on route to making this a very successful show. Touristic day etc...A river trip too...
Maryse Baudet is the owner of the famous Sacha de St Lubin....

I think having seen her in action at this years National - next years will be particularly well organised.
We will be going. so that makes at least three of us with Sue.
Andy C?
Anyone else thinking of going ? - you will need to have dog's rabies injections done pretty soon - don't forget it is six months from the date of the blood being drawn and which produces a successful blood titre before you can return to UK. If you can convince your vet to take it two weeks after the first injection - that makes mid Jan'y and if you have two injections you have until mid December to arrange it all.

We are going. I spoke to Maryse and Alan is quite taken by visiting vineyards, especially St Emilion
He was not too fond of ALL those trees!
My B&B is booked...Andy and Sue are going too, I have sent Sue the camping places from the office de tourisme.
Don't forget, anyone going south of France to TREAT dogs before you go and put a SCALIBOR collar for the nasties out there, That is imperative.
I have even asked who the judges were: Pretty much the same as last year but don't know the order. Goubie is down too...Christian G, Cescon, Villac and Gaudin....

Thanks for the camping info Patricia - one site doesn't accept animals but the other does so I will get booking.
Chase is all set to have his blood drawn on Wednesday for his titres so fingers crossed.
Scalibor collars are fab but check your vet isn't over-charging, last time I saved heaps by sourcing on-line and then getting my vet to proce match .

Sue, it will be nice to have you too for the Nationale I think you will thoroughly enjoy it. Be prepared for a Marathon round the ring
You are right, so many places don't accept dogs there. I have never seen that before. Not in France.
Anyway, I think this Nationale should be fab if I go by the enthousiasm of the organising team. I can't wait to catch up with all my French breeder friends...

Scalibor collars are cheaper still if you buy them over the counter in France.

Fair point Jan, the first of mine was brought me from Holland and was the cheapest I have ever had!
The only downside buying in France is that it needs to be worn a week before it becomes fully effective so certainly heading towards the south of France I want mine on Chase in good time.

I didn't know that Sue, I shall bear it in mind next year. Where did you find the one on the internet I will try getting my vet to reduce his price Actually, if Patricia and/or Guy are going over they could bring us some back if we ask them nicely Just a thought.....what size did you get for Chase as Merlin would probaly need the same

Small/Medium is Brittany size. I haven't got next years yet - I just search all the online vet places and see who does it cheapest then go and smile at my vet .

I will do some research when I am out there at Christmas time. Very happy to bring them back for people at cost.

Yes Annie - tis still a POM in the UK.
Guy if you could find any I would love 2 x small/med and 1 x large/med for my specific tick magnets and also Chase for his foreign travels. Only if you aren't going out of your way though as I can source them here.

Bill and I will be there to spectate as usual - just too far to take a dog the length of England and then all that way in France. The drive last year was far enough for the 2 of us. This year it will be fly and then hire a car again.
