New arrival at Clos de Faisan

Dionee has arrived!!

daughter of the wicked little huntress Kenmillix Gamecourt (Imp UK) and Aliteruer Black Grouse (Imp Aust).   I want to thank Mr Tony King for the opportunity to have this little darling join us.

Well, whose a pretty little miss then? I bet Gaston is delighted with his new playmate/beau/partner -to-be as well.
You will have to get a kitten for Stan next - once he has got over the shock of Gaston being shrunk and replicated!
Victoria

How exciting about knowing who she is related to!!!! Wow!!! She is a very bright little girl; pointing the guinea fowl!!!    Was figuring out about getting her used to gunfire; then unbeknown to me Bryan decided to shoot some magpies on the paddock from the patio...I rush out to see where Dionee was and there she was at his feet looking out towards the paddock...!!!   When Bryan sent Gaston to retrieve them, she was lining up at the gate as well!!!   Dear Gaston gave her his chewy bar.  Poor old Stan is resigned to it all...you are right, Chris, should get him a kitten!!!

Welcome, little one!  Already wanting to work! What lovely dark pigmentation too.
Victoria

Thank you,  Everyone.  It is a very exciting moment for us.    Gaston is playing with her; having a second puphood!!!   He is so sweet towards her.
Annie as admin

We know the breeding of her Dam, can you tell us about her Sire?  We may have some of his relatives on our database.
Victoria

Dionee's sire has Joymonds Veronica, J Vagabond and de Winds Iwan as grandparents/greatgrandparents.    James (Black Grouse) was born in 2000.
Annie as admin

de Winds Iwan?  Don't recognise that one at all - any more info?  Obviously we have all the Joymonds dogs on here as that's our Chairman's affix.
Victoria

Iwan was imported from the Netherlands.   I do not know any more about him.
Annie as admin

OK, I'll try Cissi - she may know - I'm very interested in pedigrees and lines.  You mentioned two Joymonds dogs - does she have lines to any other UK kennels?  The Kenmillix one is a Kennel Club generated affix not a real one.  If a 'breeder' doesn't have an affix of their own , they give a litter a communal link for traceability.  Patouche Solitaire and Daraydala Very Annie Mary are both line bred, but their progeny are outcrosses as they don't have matching lines.  I just wondered if Dionees sire tied in with either of them.

So does this mean breeding plans in a couple of years - are Dionnee and Gaston betrothed?  Or are you planning more imports to NZ?  She is certainly showing promise already.

Heaps of possibles are in my head all the time; a great way to pass the time whilst birdscaring!!!!!   In the meantime, I are so enjoying this delightful little girl!   Gaston has taken to letting her rest her head on him to have a wee sleep!    He is so sweet and gentle to her when she is hanging from his neck and growling at him!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Very Happy

Hope to have some more photos of Dionee soon; she is growing like a mushroom...nose scenting, retrieving, very very bright little girl.  Leading very well now.   The vet was so taken with her...she just sat on the table and watched as the vet got things organised...the vet commented on how alert and attentive she was.  Nothing new to Bretonnaires, I know!!!
Victoria

Here she is...

Thank you Guy for helping me with the foto.

She loves the river!!
Patricia

Nice pup...by the way it is BRETONNIERS. French wording for Brittany owners and fanciers.
Victoria

Might not know how to spell it properly, but sure as heck know what it means!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Victoria

Well, after hundreds  and hundreds of dollars, mostly spent on wicky and fizzies for carpenter and him who should do all the cooking cos he cooks better than I do and heaps for the roof shout, the new kennels at Clos de Faisan are now completed.   Still some landscaping to do!!   What a reality check in the pricing of iron, mesh and timber it has been for me - crickey dicks!!!   Still the orange and white ones are warm, safe and secure.   And at the end of the day, that is all that matters:)
Britmania

The new kennels sound very swish - Spice and Sophie are looking forward to their five star accommodation when we come to visit for the NZ and NI Field trial Champs in October.
Victoria

We are so looking forward to your stay...cannot wait!!!
Victoria

What a thrill I had last weekend when Dionee gained two challenge points!!!

Here she is at 8 and a half months.
Lin Dyke

Lin Dyke

Fantastic photo, just look at her go  Exclamation
Victoria

Thank you so much, Lin.  I cannot take credit for the photo...her breeder took them...I hear her uncle (John's Moss) did very well recently...yahoooo!!!
Patricia

Funny how things go round the world! Laughing
I had a call from Jamie ( who bred Dionnee's mother)and Moss..who had heard...from New Zealand that I had lost their grand father, Lorca.
He called to say he was sorry...I miss Jamie being around ( as he moved the other side of the country in Devon) as he he and Pauline were great fun and my memories of that goose shooting morning will stay with me forever. I could hardly believe Solo and Lorca hauling those great big birds on the Norfolk marshes  early morning at 4 am..
I believe Tony may be coming to the UK?
I must admit feeling a tad sad at those geese coming over from the water to feed on land. And getting shot with no lead ( as it is forbidden) and having difficulty in hitting them dead without wounding. Alan shot a duck too with the recommended cartridges and had to look for it injured and having flown a long way...to die slowly no doubt.
Geese have a strong community " spirit" and when injured will " carry" their friend in their flight position...Or so I am told...
I did not enjoy the goose shoot as much as pheasant, must say... Confused
Victoria

Well, here she is again... 12 months...gangly teenager...a bit light but she had not been eating over those few very hot days....

We were after hare!!!!

My thanks to Guy for modifying my photographs yet again...
Lin Dyke

Lovely photos of a lovely girl  Very Happy   Especially like the profile  Cool
Victoria

Thank you, Lin!   I have a Fuji S5600 and going by the foto when we were after hare, you cannot tell that there was a light drizzle going on when I took it!   I am getting better at this dog photography, suffice to say, to get these two, I would have taken about thirty!!!!!
johnhod

Love the first one.
Victoria

John, I have heard that she has an uncle in Ireland doing very well in the trials...do you know anything of him?
Victoria

"What do you want NOW??!!   Can't you see I am busy!!!!"
johnhod

Gay may know about how he's doing at trials as she is in contact with the owners, David and Sophie.  I know he's done well in the ring, though, as we were talking about him last summer when we went to Ireland.
Victoria

Excellent!!!!   Thank you for your reply Smile
