Newbie

Hi Guys

Just thought  I would say hello! Laughing

I have a Brittany called Tess AKA Lady Jane

Sire was Gallo de Saint Thurial
Dam was Bestobel Gentille

A bit of a sob story really.  She is now 13 years old and about 6 years ago she got ran over,  resulting in her loosing a back leg.  But what a remarkable dog - very strong spirited.  Her spine is all pinned and allsorts but you would never know and to this day she can run an almost keep up with my English Pointers - and that is something else!!

Hi Gin...I remember " Teal" as she was called. Bred by Eunice and John Lambert, owned by David Coleman. Sweet little bitch...apart from when wanting to mate her Confused
Gallo was my dog ( still alive at over 17!) and nothing ever escaped him...
Sad to hear she had some many broken bones...
Hope you enjoy the Forum,

Hi Gin and welcome to you and Tess
guy

thanks for joining.

With a young BW bitch i am interested to see how youthful she looks.  Not greying about the muzzle.

Hi Gin, welcome to the forum.

Your sweet Lady Jane is a little star.  This breed is just so resilient.  Nothing seems to dent their enthusiasm and zest for life.

Many thanks for your welcome

Very interested to hear about Teal and Gallo - and 17 years old!! Tess sounds very similar to him in character!

Tess has not a single grey hair on her head, with all she had been through you would think she should have!

I have not joined the club so far but probably will soon.

Both your bitch's parents had great character. Teal( Black) was a very kind little bitch, Gallo a real gentleman who never had a cross word against any other dog ( unlike some now Confused )
I knew Teal when David Coleman had her( as he lives in Ipswich) and we actually worked the dogs under hawks once in Westerfield.
Your bitch's litter was quite a large one if I remember rightly?
I see you have Pointers, will you get another brittany at some stage?

Hi Ginny and welcome.   Tess certainly sounds like a character!

Patricia - I would love another Brittany even though I am completely dotty on my Pointers!!  I just adore the tri colours - so keep me in mind if anyone hears of one looking for a home!!!!! Laughing

I have worked my Pointers on grouse and done some falconry but they are not really trained - just instinct as they are both of working strain, but Tess would have been a superstar in that field.

I never knew much about Tess's litter as I "inherited" her when I married my husband.  Tess is his second Brittany, he had Ben before Tess who he got from a lady in Gorebridge, sadly no longer with us I think.  Cannot remember her name but was quite "big" in Brittany's.

That would have been Libby Groundwater.  She brought a Brittany bitch into Scotland about 8 months after we bought Brett from Stan Smith(He brought them into the UK in 1982).  We never bred our first two but she bred a few litters.  Bill Thayne (The Plum) owned that Brittany(Victoria of Talwater) in partnership with Libby and trialled her with success.  Liz's dogs are desended from Vicky and her daughter Minty

Ginny, Ben would have been closely related to our first Brit, Bliss who we lost last year when she was coming up 15 (I use her pic here).   The 3 we have now still have quite a bit of Talwater blood in them.
