Hi Folks and sorry to be away from the forum for so long - we have just had our biggest week of the field trial year with the SOUTH ISLAND Championships in Nelson and NEW ZEALAND Field Trial championships held here in Christchurch. Results are as follows:
13 & 14 October 2007
SOUTH ISLAND Field trial CHAMPIONSHIP P&S

(9 dogs ran - 4 compl)
"Folly" becomes the second Brittany to win the South Island Championship
(Spice was first, in 2004) - and wasnt it great to see the Brits finish on top!!
20 & 21 October 2007
NEW ZEALAND Field trial CHAMPIONSHIP P&S
Judge: Mr G.Clarke (NZ) entries: 4 Brittany,1 GSP,1Pointer,2 IS,
2 GWP, 2 HV. (11 dogs ran, 7 compl, 1 scr).
We were all really stoked that ALL the Brittany's got through the very difficult course ! On a personal note, we were also really delighted for Spice to repeat her top Brittany placing as well as be the first South Island dog home. Sophie stunned us all with her performance. Not only the youngest dog in the field, but by far the most novice - this being her first ever championship P&S run. I freely admit to for the first time ever, having a good cry when she finished her run. I just could not believe she had gone so well!
We were also able to celebrate with Victoria, who came down to the champs to launch her gundog accessories stall - it was a resounding success with plenty of items sold out on saturday and two thirds of the stock sold by sunday evening. Hopefully next year, she will be running Gaston in the trial as well!! (No pressure Victoria!!).

BRITTANIES RULE OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
guy
Excellent, brilliant etc etc.
Not so strong here yet! We were put out in our first novice FT yesterday - I blame the handler. Sent his dog in on the whistle before the judge had asked for the bird! so looked as if he ran in; which he didn't. However he did run on and flushed another hen from the same piece of cover and didn't leave it at that. Grrr came out with feathers in his mouth.
We came away with the 'guns award' and the comment from the judge at the end of the day that 'the Brittany' showed by far the best bit of hunting.

Fab news

Not to worry Guy, it wasnt to be on the day, but the main thing is you got the 'Guns Award'. Probably more important - the Judge's comment about the Brittany showing the best bit of hunting. That is what it is all about really!! WELL DONE!!
To add to our excitement and crown the weekend - Barry was invited (and has accepted) to judge the 2008 NEW ZEALAND Pointer & Setter championship trial.

This is what I love reading about...the Breton out there and succeeding; it is just so exciting...
The 2008 New Zealand champs will be held about 20 minutes drive from my home...
