Can you all check your local areas for Britany Classes at Open Shows, I'm going to try to compile a list for the website(secretaries contact details too please)
Thanks
Annie
guy

could we post shows that allow legally docked dogs as well
Annie as admin

I thought they all did except the ones that charge visitors and they say so? Maybe the reverse might be better - a list of the shows that charge admission to non exhibitors?  Name and Shame - Crufts top of the list Twisted Evil

I've told you two near to me Coventry Gundog and Mid Herts Gundog. There are probaly more but those are the two that I go to. Oh yes, just remembered Luton Canine puts on classes as well.

This is the list as I have it at the momnet - I am sure it will grow.  If anyone has old schedules or catalogues perhaps they can fill in Secretary's details too.

Haven't Sue and Ken Thorley managed to get brittany classes at a couple of shows local to them?
Liz

A few more for the list

Waverley Gundogs - also November
Border Counties Gundogs, Carlisle - Jan and May
North of England HPR, Northumberland/Durham (moves around a bit) - March and October
Northern Counties Gundogs, Newcastle area - not sure of dates
North Riding Gundogs, near Scotch Corner - May and August

I should have the sec's addresses for most of these, will email them to you later.   I try and send a judges list to every show that schedules them.

I just found out that this club had Brittany classes in April and has two shows each year. In addition I found an e-mail address for Vale of Glamorgan (sorry, couldn't find any other info). I've attached the information as an excel file as I thought it'd be easier for you to cut and paste like that.
I'm going to try to visit some friends of mine tomorrow. He is a canine photographer, and she shows an Afghan and a Borzoi but has been badgering me to get into showing for sometime and keeps her eye out for shows with Brittany classes, so they both have a general knowledge of what is going on locally. I'll see what they know.

Liz, am I right in thinking if they put on three classes they are supposed to take someone off our list?
I'll ask our Jessica for the ones Ken & Sue have organised.  The list is growing fast!  Well done, Guys! Laughing

You can judge up to 3 classes without being on a list.
andrea

East Anglian gundog usually have classes too.
eddieh

Would it be possible to have access to the list in the members area so that we could update it ourselves and see the latest additions to the list? It might relieve you of some work and enable us to see at a glance what is already there.

Just a thought.
barbara

It's Mountsorrel, I think and have we got the East Anglian Gundog?
barbara

Sorry Andrea, I hadn't seen your post Laughing

Yes, that is the whole point of doing this.  It'll go up as soon as I send it to Donald - need a few more dates/Secretary contact details first though.
I only knew of some of the Scottish and North England ones so will be going to more of them.  Petrol is such a price that I think I'll be doing Open Shows more often and Champ ones less often, so I guess Allez will never bew a Champion.

Merseyside Gundogs have two shows.  Jessica judged Brittanys at the last one (I seem to remember you were entered for it Annie).

I'll see if I can find dates/contact details

Updated list but need dates and contacts

I'd be willing to make a few phone calls if that's acceptable. Question

I didn't manage to see my friend but she has kept some schedules apparently. I'll try to talk to her tomorrow.

One thing I have noticed is that one or two websites have links to breed clubs but not to BCGB (or links that do not work)
Annie as admin

Feel free to call anyone you like - all information is very welcome.   Laughing Please also email any website to put a link to ours on if you wouldn't mind - that goes for everyone on here.  I have asked everyone who has a link on our website to reciprocate, but hadn't got round to browsing for others who might put us on.  I think we are now much further up the search engines too.
I hate wikipedia but they are at the top of Google for a search on 'brittanys' and on their external links page on the breed we are third club down.  Not too bad

need a volunteer to trawl through these

Not much point - no idea whether these have classes for us or not till you phone secretary and no-one would bother phoning all of these.  Not even all teh Gundog Clubs schedule Brittanys - time they were all educated.  I think word of mouth and local knowledge is working fine.
guy

although fairly exhaustive list once you select   those marked 'O' and then ignore specialist breed clubs and then dog training clubs the number is not that daunting.

http://www.bestofbreeds.com/clubcorner/dogs/gencanineatoc.htm for a list of secy's contact details
Annie as admin

Yes, but these are all general - I'm trying to create a breed specific list and to be honest we're getting a great response this way.  Have a look at your lists if you have time and give me actual shows, dates, secretary details.
Annie as admin

Another update - dates venues etc for top few still required.  I had already trawled the shows site and got some there from websites but don't have time to email all secretaries

Hope you didn't phone her John. I did about an hour ago Smile

Do we really not have a number for a Mrs K Gorman.Shocked

I've completed a few more details on the spreadsheet attached

I've just found a correct number for Mr Reynolds-Frost of Luton but can get no reply at present. Also, I have contact details for Vale of Glamorgan and will try it later.

That best of breeds website is a waste of time - half of the secretaries names on there are out of date and I found three clubs with two different secretaries. I had hoped to get email addresses from it but only got one after trawling through the whole thing this afternoon
However, with everyone on here sending me emails and messages on the forum I think we have enough to set the ball rolling.  Donald has changed the website calendar and it is now much easier to use.
We now have 38 open shows across the country that schedule classes for Brittanys - I am sure there are loads more so keeping looking for me everyone.
The other thing we need to do is check the secretaries are current so can you all download the spreadsheet and highlight the ones you KNOW to be correct, or that you can give me a correst name and number for and pm me with your corrections. I was hoping to have an email list available as well but there are very few at the moment - I'll do some more trawling to try to come up with some more once I've taken these four brats out for their evening saunter.
Good work, chaps and chapesses! Wink

I did warn you that the info might be unreliable Laughing . Having said that, the Birmingham gundog and terrier society secretary of six years ago did give me the name of the current secretary.
I've added a couple more bits of info for vale of Glamorgan and Dukeries

Anne, I've emailed you the list that we used for sending out the BCGB judging list last year.   Not sure how up to date the info is - it's forever changing.
Annie as admin

Thanks, Liz - great help!

Noticed on the HPR forum that you were looking for Irish shows as well.  Most if not all are on this link http://www.showdogsireland.com/showing.asp
Annie as admin

I'm hoping Gay and Jayne can give me a list of Open Shows with classes, failing which I'll ask Sophie Hayes.  Otherwise I'd have to contact every Secretary and ask them. I don't have time for that.  Remember - I'm actively retired!!!!!  I don't sit here every minute of teh day although it looks like it - I rush through when I hear the 'ding dong' of a new message, then off to do something else. Wink

I've got a list of open shows coming from the IKC, by post.  Hopefully it will show only those with Brittany classes (as that's what I asked for)
Annie as admin

I tried asking OUR KC for that - got a complete list of Open Shows (just as on their website) including not only other breeds shows but other groups as well. - useless! Hope the IKC is better - and why can't they do it electronically?

Mrs. Kathy Gorman is our Club Vice-President Eddie.....I always think that calling someone a Vice anything is rather rude Rolling Eyes

I'd have thought the person responsible for vice for the Brittany club would be a very busy person

I'm sure she has a firm grip on things (can't find a grovel icon)

What would she have a firm grip of Wink  Wink
