PicnicJulia and I are organising a picnic on August 15th. It will be held in a piece of well fenced grassland with woodland adjacent - all deer fenced so nearly Brittany proof.
All you need is one plate of food - such that if you just ate that you would have had sufficient. We will all then share what is available so a good tasty event should be assured.
Don't forget to bring a Brittany.

Chase would love to attend ........... but needs to ask, can his big brother come too?

Wish I lived closer - sounds a great idea. Not enough Brittany owners up here to do it either.

Of course - i should have said Brittanys can bring a friend.

Next question ............
Chase wants to know if he brings a plate of food - DOES HE REALLY HAVE TO SHARE?????
|
guy
|
If Chase does not want to share then he cannot expect others to share with him.
As a clarification for others - a plate of food does not mean a meal on a plate but, for example, a whole plate of chocolate pudding of sufficient quantity that if you just ate that you would be filled up.

Ok - so we read this as Guy's dream picnic would consist of nothing more than plates of chocolate pudding .
|
guy
|
nope - i suggested Chocolate as i thought it might appeal. i am in a salad leaves and fresh made balsamic dressing phase with ...... mmm
|
Lin Dyke
|
....goats cheese, cherry toms and bruchetta...

Dessert for me at the moment would be local strawberries with balsamic - yum yum.

It looks very much like I may be attending a Brittany picnic without a ...................................... Brittany . Small B&W brat was bitten this evening by what looked like a horsefly and despite being dosed up on piriton he is very sore on his leg.
Brice and I hope we will still be welcome if the brat needs to stay home and nurse his hurty.

Aw, poor Chase, horrid things these horseflies. I come up in great weals if they bite me so I hope he's OK

you and Brice an Piper will still be welcome. Tell Chase he has a day to get over it. :-)
He could come and try for the sympathy vote. He might even forget about the pain with a dozen other Britts to play with.

What a lovely day, a super spot and the weather was kind with some sun, some overcast and a nice breeze. Thanks to Guy and Julia for organising!!!
Food was lovely, I know I was a bit daunted about not having a specific thing to take but we had a great mix of savoury and sweet - not much was left at the end but we were all stuffed and I know some dogs had some tasty treats .
I think I am right in calculating 8 Brittanys, 1 GSD and 1 Deerhound with assorted families. A few had hoped to join for an hour or so but other committments got in the way - they were missed but we all had fun.
I do have video of some of the fun but as I only bought the camera on thursday you will have to wait while I try to figure out how to upload it and then link it to here .
To those of you here and not on Facebook I am pleased to report Chase is home................. For those of you not party to my day I had an unscheduled vet trip prior to the picnic as Chase's thigh had swollen to alaming proportions post horsefly bite. He was admitted as the vet thought he may have to perform a fasciotomy to relieve the pressure on his thigh muscles but he has responded to steroids and has come home this evening, he is still sore and has to go back for another jab tomorrow but he is so much better! It may sound odd that I left Chase but I trust this particular vet and signed consent for op so he could do what was needed. Compartment Syndrome is very scary and could have meant permanent muscle and/or nerve damage so if he had needed an op he needed it - nothing I could do and my vet promised to ring me if that was going to happen. I was expecting Chase still to be in this evening so I am happy and surprised to have him home, he is supposed to be on cage rest but is currently asleep cuddled on my knee . So yes, I went to a Brittany Picnic without the required Brittany, but he is home now and will hopefully make the next one .

Thanks to all for a lovely afternoon. One of the things that struck me the most was in the four hours of the picnic with all dogs off their leads none wandered off seriously and none had a disagreement with others.
I don't know why but it always seems to work out that people bring a good mix of food - without any instruction. So it was again today.
A small sprint event was won by Dottie - but there was a little dubious interference with Scampi in her heat. Catja made it to the final but stayed sat on the start line until it was all over.

It won't Guy - don't know why but although I can burn it to disc I can't get it to upload to either site.

Do they have a maximum size? It's maybe quite long, is it?
|
Mugi

Annie - it is about 5 mins and should be within size and time limits as far as I can see. I tried a few times and it got partway and then decided to reject the upload. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Of course it may also be my wireless but I think it is working ok.
