Poor feeding after introduction of puppySince getting Remi, Tegen has been on and off her food. She’ll feed poorly then start eating as she should again, leading us to think that it was just a blip. I can see that she has lost weight and, after weighing her, found that she has dropped nearly 7 pounds to 28lb. She was quite happy with her food prior to Remi’s arrival so I’m assuming this isn’t an issue. I’m sure that there’s no physical problem and am convinced that it is some sort of confidence problem related to Remi’s introduction. She ate well yesterday and we’re going to see how she gets on today before phoning the vet. Any ideas?

Do you feed them together or in separate rooms [don't laugh it's been known] I had this with Ghill so she didn't get anthing for 24 hours but had to sit and watch Merlin pig out, she now finishes first and licks his bowl just to makes sure he hasn't left anything

They both feed in the same room. We've tried various combinations of who eats where and when but haven’t been able to identify the cause of the problem or a solution. If nothing else comes to light I might try what you did.
Since my original post, I did find something on a website about soaking dry foods more than usual as a way of stopping a dog from overeating. We have soaked her mixer for longer than usual and I am wondering if this is causing or aggravating the problem.

I've put the dry food in the microwave for a few seconds to warm up, it releases the scent better when it's warm i have also put some minced tripe onto it and mixed it in.
