RE: Posting on "Y-OUR" Forum

To the person who sent me a private post, my public reply protecting your words:

Well for one I do not do what some do, the knowledge I have is from practicle experience and professional training. I have well over 175 FT wins/placements on dogs that I have personally trained and handled, I also have several dogs of different breeds who have won at upper level obedience competitions, I have competed with Sch. dogs when I had German Shepherds, and dabled in agility when I had the time and energy.  I will become a judge now that I am out of a conflicting job situation, and have been an active participant in MANY USA Brittany seminars and judges education programs.

Sorry if how I write comes accross as offending.
I am as I said not a very social person so if the typewritten word is not the same as my voice or intonations in person all I can say is I am sorry.
If you feel that I have a superior attitude sorry, as you really do not know me at all.  I am the most quiet person to see face to face.....the only things I talk about anywhere is dogs as that is and has been my life.
All I ever try to do is to help people.  If you do not want any remarks on what you do then maybe you should not post them or ask questions about them when the response is not what you like.  On most other lists and forum that are email based one can delete the post or ignore.  I know I ignore many.

For your assistance you can throw it out if you like or seek someone not closed minded and that can give you results in your training and not take "Years" to get a dog not to pull or learn to be steady to wing and shot.  It seems in some post persons automatically attack anyone who is from the USA.  I think that is quite evident in what is often posted.

FYGI Any dog who has the hair cut off neck from a training collar is using it improperly with the wrong force or technique.  The dog is "Suffering" from nagging nagging pulls and this kind of action will damage the throat.
One will see the same damage with just a plain buckle collar as well...this is a classic sign that the correction applied was and is improper.  This is inhumane training IMHO.

Yes I left the FB list because it did nothing for my time while moving.
In Fact it has been one of the most pleasant 2 -1/2 months I have had in a long while.
I am glad that folk feel they do not want me on the list as I have been told just the opposite on how dead the list has been since I left, and many public posts were forwarded to me expressing dismay that I left.  I also recieved many private posts also asking why I left.

It takes differing ideas to generate thought and creativity in solving issues of any kind. It takes a willingness to be open to "Hear" words and not automatically take them as an attack against one's person.  These kinds of forums were supposed to be about sharing ideas, experiences pertaining to these dogs.  Does not matter what country the dogs come from but it does matter about automatically condeming one country over another...it is political and dogs have always for the most part been a universal world where politics should not have a place.

Enjoy your forum and I will also refrain from posting here as I need to finish my moving chores, those who want to ask me info. do have my personal email addresses.

Thanks for your interesting words and funny how you think that I am attacking you or your country.  I have learned to embrace diversity and learn from many all over the world.

Have a nice day.
Patricia

I will admit, and not ashamed to say it, that I have learnt a lot from Goldie. The most memorable was the " hock" size and lenght in a puppy to determine size, also head planes and all sorts. It worked Wink
It is good sometimes to debate as we learn from it. We may of course not like it sometimes. And I feel we have to really mind our P's & Q's in this country, something more obvious when you just return from France... Cool

I haven't heard Goldie's theories on hock size, Patricia.  Can either of you explain please.  I'd appreciate that.  Does it mean that you can tell the finished height of a dog from the puppy's hock length?  That would be a god send, I am sure.
Thanks
Patricia

I feel Goldie would explain it better. But she has taught me quite a few things by email, and just because she can be blunt doesn't mean we should not learn from her knowledge. When I first came to England, I was much more blunt ( no comments please Confused ) and Alan told me numerous times to think how I said things as we are not in France!
But I feel more and more we have to be politically correct and no one learns to be objective and to the point. kermit

With respect, Patricia, that isn't the answer to my question. I don't think any of us need lectures on here.

Can you explain the hock theory please since Goldie appears to have gone for the moment according to that opening post on this thread.  I'm sure it would help a lot of people although I have never had the need to gauge size some people may need to.

I can assure you I am not trying to give anyone a lecture. Goldie's tone could be interpreted as blunt. But I am opinionated too and if I have offended, I apologise Confused

Don't worry , Patricia - we all have our moments - you know I can be opinionated too!  And I doubt if we're the only three in the world!

Anyway, can you explain about the hocks?  Can you work out a dog's eventual adult height from it's hock length at a certain age?  I'd never heard of that before, that's why I'm asking.

I've heard Duncan talking about a theory of working out adult height - they tried it when Beth was a baby, but at 10 years old she's now the average height for a 13 year old so something went wrong with his calculations he he Wink
