SponsorshipHaving seen John's brilliant idea of asking for idea's for fundraising on here, thus reaching most of the members, I would just like to point out that being as I am in charge of getting sponsorship for the club's shows I would also appreciate some input from you lot. Most of the major dog food manufacturers are not sponsoring clubs anymore so come on give me and Richard some bright ideas......please, pretty please
Anyone want to sponsor a class by paying for the rosettes or donating prizes Doesn't have to be a vast amount spent on them [the prizes I mean] rosettes per class are in the schedules

Jan, how much would the rosettes cost for each class?

Hi Victoria
Last year in the schedule for the Championship Show it was £3.00 per class and there are 37 classes. The June Open Show had 20 classes last year plus the 2 Memorial Classes It may or may not change this year.

I would like to sponsor a class! I know it is not much but at least it is one way of contributing seeing as we members here cannot make purchases for the rescue fundraising. I could send the money with my sub to Annie if this was alright?

Sponsorship actually is tied in with fundraising, isn't it. If we do both well we can have more available to promote the Breed, its working abilities and needs, and obtain help with any health related issues

That's a very good idea...John how about getting together and talking about it

I believe it would be useful to work together on this, as we are both chasing a limited pot of money. It will, however, be awkward to move forward until the charitable status is finalised, as this will drive the way that money is divided between club and rescue/welfare.

Can you please explain; is the club deemed a charitable organisation? (as a result of the rescue?); I can appreciate the condundrum!! If it is, then is it better to sponsor the rescue more so than a show? (how are the entries viewed then??)

I've got no edit icon on this post so me again!!! Here any club (charitable or otherwise) can apply from the tax office, a non-profit organisation status, hence my lack of understanding of the club's status

Hi Victoria
Associations in the UK can apply for charitable status but may be turned down if their Constitution limits benefits to members. Sections of a club can have Charitable Staus but not a full blown charity since the criteria is having income of £5000 or more per annum. They can then claim taqx and VAT back from some and perhaps all donations. All information is on the Charities Foundation website. http://www.cafonline.org/

Wow, 5000pounds is an awful amount of money (I just think of what that would mean here 15,000NZD)!! Thank you for the information, Annie
