Mugi

Strange Brag

I am so proud of Chase for a really odd reason.

On sunday he got involved in a fight and it was such a shame. The dog that started it was niggling him, had had a go at Mugi and then went for Piper. Chase had disengaged a number of times by deliberately turning his head away - I was thrilled he was being so mature about it (we were on a hill on ice where I could do little to get away at the time) but eventually he was not prepared to put up with this ill manners of this dog.

So yes my young man had a scrap and did inflict one wound (although TBH that was more human error than intent) and as soon as we got them apart he settled and walked with me to heel nicely.

Since then he has been playing freely with his brothers even into mad games that will sometimes risk erupting into a niggle now he is older. Today he has played with two new dogs who were both male and again he was really nicely mannered.

I have worked hard on trying to socialise him nicely and I think we may be getting there Very Happy .

What was the other dog's owner doing?

Not understanding her dogs body language would be the kindest thing to say Eddie.

In one sense it is a good thing it happened as she now knows she has to do something about his poor social skills, would rather it hadn't been at Chase's expense as I wasn't aware he had an issue with other dogs or Chase would have stayed in the car.

I had a Dalmatian playfully lunging, teeth bared and lips curled, at Remi on Sunday. You don't really have to be a dog psychologist to recognise some things, do you.

Some of you who have been to France will have seen how some males can be quite" macho". Confused A Brittany will  not often take everything lying down or run away when attacked.
I had once a person who came  to look at our Brittanys...We took my dog Spot along with him to show the breed working:  the person took his own dog too. The crossbred started riding Spot who looked annoyed. Had it been Lorca the dog jumped on it would have been a different story. Having been attacked as a youngster, he never forgot and would have retaliated. Especially as a mature male of 3.
At this last show in France, 2 Brittanys males eye balled each other and had already had had a scrap a previous time. The owner proudly told me it took a fencing stake on the head of his dog to separate the 2. He thought he nearly killed him as to try to split them up. Confused
What breed attacked Chase? I hope you gave the woman a piece of your mind...
