Summer food

Mum took me (a bit of a misnomer as she can't drive, no longer handles money etc etc) out for lunch today to celebrate my birthday. Tis not my b'day today but while dad is in hospital and the weather is so glorious we took advantage.

She wanted to visit the new Maison Blanc cafe that has opened in Burford so off we went.

Mum had a Roast Chicked Caesar Salad while I had a Provencal Tart with green salad. Have to say my choice was inspired ............ a tartlette filled with dijon mustard, some emmental cheese and topped with sliced tomato and a sprinkle of herb, served warm but not too hot. It was delicious Smile .That was washed down with a nice lemonade (they are licensed but I don't indulge at lunchtime normally) then the meal was finished off with a cup of tea and in my case the most lovely patisserie. A slightly creamy mousse type cake on a biscuit base and encased in the mousse was a citron jelly - sharp and not too sweet - yum.

I have also brought home a baguette and for supper I will be having local Evesham Asparagus with melted butter, lemon and black pepper served with bread followed by local strawberries dressed in balsamic glaze.

I love early summer seasonal food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmmm - that sounds delish!

Anyone got any particular thoughts for lunch on Saturday.  I have bought some cheeses and relishes/chutneys, and intend buying some nice rolls, quiches, pork pies - or at least I hope Jan will  Laughing , and will also bring fruit, crisps, home made fruit cake and rock cakes (which I am just about to make), and juice.  Can we have the use of the back of a car to lay it out please?
At the moment participants are me and Donald, Gay, Eddie, Irving, Michelle and Marianne (GSP).  we can take another couple if anyone still wants to join in the fun.

Jan, having been to the Doc's today with a pulled tendon in my back and muscles gone into spasm, is now on metacarbamol. Reading the printout that came with these torpedos one of the side effects is AMNESIA which is great as I can now deny knowing anything about anything...........so be warned Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil
