Just as well we're all different and think differently, isn't it? It would be a boring old world if we all judged the same way

Well done Guy....didn't she like the Eastonites

you will also notice the open entry beats the limit entry.
The judge took no prisoners about handling as some no doubt will attest :-)

Apart from the fact we were given very little time to settle the dogs I was very pleased with how Chase behaved while he was gone over. Movement was challenging esp as I wasn't allowed to move him slower but hey - he is making progress!

It's a pity I couldn't go to that show :( Cedar's brother Chestnut and her half sister Bracken did well
Oh well I'll get her to some soon

Sue, why could you not move him slower?????
You would be amazed how much you can see from the movement at the walk....
One thing not to do; Is run flat out. They are not Spaniels.

I agree entirely - I made that mistake on Sunday and Allez was all over the place. He had come straight in from the car and was totally 'wound up'

Show at the pace which complements your dog's ...Some go like trains. But I remember being told to slow down years ago by Margaret when I had Asterix. I did not forget and listened to the " experienced" people's advice.
I will say that a show is not a ringcraft class. If a youngster does a couple of bounce????? It is an exuberant breed. Structure and correct movement should be more important than being like a " robot".

Sometimes a judge can come across maybe poorly groomed dogs, maybe they are badly handled, maybe they are naughty on the day, maybe they are still babyish....
But that judge should recognise quality under it all, mention it in the critic. Help.
Maybe there is real quality under it all? And if a dog has that but misbehaves, then..do we discard it?
Conformation and movement...form and function.IMO.

It doesn't happen with Brits, fortunately, but I've seen handlers in other breeds try and get pups to stand like statues because "the judge wants them to stand still". That only makes the pup totally fed up and can make them hate being in the ring.
If the judge can't work out what a dog's made like even if it's moving a bit and not stood 100% straight, then that's the judge's fault, not the dogs!

Let's face it Liz...some judges wouldn't know a dog from an elephant never mind good construction and/or movement

Patricia, the judge instructed me to move quicker , sadly that encouraged Mr Bouncy and we were being hurried along regardless. Mind you, the judge was complimentary about the dog but not the handling when she spoke to me so I will read his critique with interest.

Did they have a change of judge or did the judge have a sex change as the Brittany judge named in the link was a MRS Z Thorn-Andrews
|
Mugi

His as in Chase's as the judge was definitely female

She is Mrs. Terry Thorn, in another version
