I have had the privilege of sharing my life with Brittanys for the last twenty years and owe a great deal to the club rescue (and my wife who contacted Patricia Rush, the rescue co-ordinator, at a time when I lost my soul-mate of sixteen years) who gave us the opportunity to adopt two beautiful dogs from less than beautiful backgrounds and to enjoy the happiness that we now share. We have also, due to the kind nature of our own dogs, been privileged to be able to care for dogs which have come into rescue within our own home environment as foster carers and experience the immense pleasure of being able to find them new homes secure in the knowledge that they will be well cared for in their new lives having personally been involved in the adoption process and assured that the new owner, their environment and the dog are perfectly matched.
We hope that this will become a forum for anyone who has rescued, fostered or adopted a Brittany to be able to seek advice and share ideas and experiences. We also hope that anyone wishing to fulfil any of these roles will use the forum to seek further information and advice from people experienced in these roles.
We would also like to hear from anyone who is able to provide transport and/or kennelling facilities if needs arise. If you haven’t visited the re-homing page, please do so at:
May I thank Peter for setting this forum up for us, and for he and Anne's fostering for all these years - I hope all those wonderful people who take on a re-home will join up and give us their hints, tips, thoughts, and stories and that as a result of this forum anyone able to offer a home will get in touch here so we can pass them onto Patricia. May I at this point say that Patricia does a wonderful singlehanded job of organising re-homing but it is becoming a more and more onerous a task and it is hoped other committee members and members of the Club can assist with transport, temporary accommodation, tracing new homes, previous owners/breeders etc. We have been unfortunate this year in having large vet bills, but due to Anne and Peter's hard work we may be now able to keep these costs at a minimum. Patricia also does a great deal of work on the training side of our breed and occasionally is able to have training days on their farm raising funds for rescue. We cannot do without injections of cash such as this and Patricia is to commended for her work all round. Our new handbook for our Anniversary year is well in hand and I have received a large amount of donations to rescue along with booking fees for colour ads in the book. Thank you very much to all our great supporters.
