Mugi

What a weekend!!!Freddy had a social weekend, his first time at a springer spaniel training/social weekend - in the past he has been to weimaraner events and has not been able to do anything much (mainly due to his start in life as opposed to willingness of weim peeps for him to join in).
The weather was foul, 4 tents blew down/broke/ripped although mine stayed sound. Mugi had his cosy crate in his bedroom and snored throught the gales, Chase slept in the car as it was quieter and more familiar for him and Freddy cuddled .
The positives though - that Freddy loved his agility training and for the first time stayed in the ring for a competition outside getting a third place after spooking on one tunnel. He also excelled at WT style tracking although he has done some before, just not in a flooded field in a howling gale and he ran his first scurry gaining a respectable time and not being laughed at retrieving his yellow fluffy duck (the only toy or object he will carry).
Mugi had cuddles from everyone and became a lap dog in the evenings as the party tent became an indoor paddling pool . He did the scurry and came home with a rosette for being the oldest dog to complete it with a time of 10.38 sec (winner dog was a working cocker at 6.03 secs so Mugi was not bad), he did only one run as he was so reckless over the bales to get his dummy I was scared he would injure himself!!!!
Chase made friends, had his first run on a beach and in the sea (with trailing longline in case he became too keen to try surfing) and did some retreive training but mostly he chilled and watched the others, obviously no agility or the like for him being still such a pup.
The venue was fab, permanent equipment for agility and flyball with training thrown in, a campsite with very basic facilities but hookup, a food wagon for the use of the group with a potato oven, large grill, kettle and a fridge, an exercise field which in better weather had an ideal river for water retreives and all very secure. Anglesey would have been great too but the weather did conspire against us so we all called a day sunday and are home a day early.
