Whether the weather...Well, Chris texted me today to say it had reached 37c at the township not far from them...at least part of my day was spent in the blissful air conditioning of the Same tractor.

Hmm - it was -11.8C in the greenhouse last night.

Yep, we've been into the mid-high 30's celcius the last few days, not real pleasant. Looking forward to autumn/winter (seems a long way away) and some cooler weather so we can go hunting. It does take the edge of Annie when we go for a walk/training session though, she tends to like to walk in my shadow on the way home.
Cheers,

We took the dogs for a run last night and at 9pm it was still 28c !!
You know it is hot when the chocolate biscuits in the pantry had to be shifted to the fridge to stop them melting away!
We have had a heatwave for the past fortnight and today is no better - 30c forecast. Tomorrow (saturday) it is forecast to plummet to 15c and rain - I CANT WAIT.
This sort of weather is hopeless for training and hunting - the wind is either non existant or blowing a gale, and the gamebirds are like us - in the shade.
Roll on autumn.

This is bordering on insensitive
I'd like to think we'd have a chance to get our own back in a few months, but recent experience would suggest otherwise. In fact, I'd rather the weather we're having at the moment than our last two summers. Give me cold and crisp over wet and dismal anytime.

I'll second that Eddie. Can't be doing with all that grey dismal weather.
However, I don't envy our friends in NZ and Aus'. That sounds just waaaaay too hot

And no good British ale to quench their thirst. Just stuff that you have to chill before you can bear to drink it

Last week or so, - 3 or more Celsius...It has been a long time since we have hade a decent forst. Unfortunately we also have fog with freezing temperature. That is not so much fun. For hunting the still air is not much good either. But like the others we would rather a good frost and crisp and sunny ideally.
But unlike you at 30 C, we can wrap up.
The other day, wonderful day with a hint of sunshine glistening over the white snow covering the fields. Magical...and perfect for keeping good clean Brittany feet! I just love those days...

Them's fighting words, Eddie... !!!!!! We have a local bar which brings out English and Irish beers in kegs...I know one of them is quite potent according to a friend...he has been banned from drinking there by his wife!!!!!
I do not mind the odd hot day/s like we are having but once it settles into drought mode, that is different...when all the signs of rain, do not come to fruition, that is when it is a bit scary...

Thank you, Waldo, for passing on your hot weather, like that!!!! As I write, it is teeming with beautiful rain...the relief!!!!!

I know what you mean. I'll never forget going out for a walk in the rain when the weather finally broke in 1976. For a country where two weeks of pleasant weather is regarded as a drought, that summer went on just a bit too long.
On the cold drink front. Am I the only person who finds a cool drink more refreshing than a chilled one?

I also find it curious how people think you are mad wanting a cup of tea after hard work...they would much rather drink sugary fizz...they do not get it that the tea is refreshing and quenching!!!
I've got a little Breton here looking at me 'so what are we going to do today...obviously you're not at @#%^%&&+** work, so come on, lets DO SOMETHING!!!!!!' Still a gentle drizzle coming down, yippeeee!!

I am with you on cool beer rather than cold lager. Given the choice. On a hot continental day - something cold is very pleasant.

I'm not talking specifically about alcoholic drinks. Squash, cordial or whatever, if it's too cold it chills your tongue and the back of your mouth. A cool drink "washes" your mouth and throat. It is a much more refreshing thing.

A little bit of trivia, but a "cold" drink when exercising actually does take more energy to consume than one that is merely cool, your body has some work to do when a drink is real cold. I'm not about to start drinking warm beer though!
Back to the weather it's supposed to be 38C on Tuesday with 39C on Wednesday. Training might have a break for a few days!
I spent a couple of weeks works working in NZ a few years back, at the time in Aus. we had huge bushfires and the locals in NZ couldn't understand how it happens. I said it doesn't rain for months and months, everything dies and catches on fire, they couldn't grasp the concept of no rain.
Cheers,
Waldo

Waldo, our manager's sister lives with her family in Dubai; they came back for Christmas this year and their three year daughter was absolutely terrified of the puddles...she had no idea what they were!!!!! I was living in Adelaide during the fires of the infamous Ash Wednesday...you do not forget that sort of thing in a hurry

Gee, it's hot! Check this out copied and pasted from the local weather station:
41.8°C at 5:30PM, Wed 14 Jan
Not sure if the temp is on the way down or up!
Better go grab a cold beer.

I can't say I envy you. We gave up on the summer in 2007 and booked a last minute one week holiday in Kefalonia. The forcasted temperature for the first day was 39°C. I remarked that I wasn't sure I could cope with it. When we arrived the temperature was reported as being 44°C and expected to rise. I lost the will to move at one point. Never drank so much water in all my life. 40 litres between the two of us at the apartment plus whatever we had when we were out.
|

|
Waldo, please do not send that lot over here!!!!
Eddie, 40 litres is an awful lot of water...!!!!!

Nearly 3 litres a day each. To be fair, we got through 20 x 2 litre bottles. Some went in making tea, so there was a little wastage there but after walking up a steep hill for over 5 minutes (think of the hill leading up to Lincoln Cathedral for anybody who knows it) with 4 x 2 litre bottles plus some shopping and beach stuff, in that sort of temperature, one bottle got demolished fairly quickly. It doesn't help when "a certain person" decides that paying to use the air conditioning is a waste of money

No. If you listen carefully, every now and then, you can hear a hint of Brum.

That's like Connolly's skit about the suicide bomber instructor...
Well, the last day of Summer and it is teeming with rain...so no birdscaring for me today...oh, how I will not appreciate this come payday!!!!
Some of the vineyards were frantically harvesting the grapes for bubblies yesterday trying to beat the rain...apparently we have more tomorrow...
