A broken nights sleep last night due to muntjac barking for about an hour, with Rudi and another local dog feeling it necessary to respond until we went down to let him out. He went crazy for a bit then settled quite quickly after a check of the garden and a taste of the railway line where the deer run. This evening it was the turn of the hedgehog Jim let the boys out then called "Help, quick!". They had found the hedgehog, which was quite sensibly just the other side of the railings from the boys... that is if there isn't a Brittany involved Rudi pawed the hedgehog through the railings and presented it to Jim on the patio. It sufferered a few broken spines but soon recovered to make a speepy exit. There was a bit of blood around but this was probably from a superficial mouth wound to Rudi. What will it tonight we wonder

Lin, I have read about the muntjac in the Field; when they bark what is it like; I sort of imagine like a red hind but a smaller voice so to speak on a ccount of their size?

Hi Victoria, another night of barking deer and also foxes I think. Rudi is getting more accustomed to it and is only going "wuff" quietly in response now. The attached sites are great, with sound recordings of deer and foxes. Hope you find them interesting.
