I somehow missed that thread completely. _________________ Guy, Ellie, Topaz, Catja and in memory Barley

Now I know, thanks to Guy (I'd actually posted congratuations to the award winners).
Somehow I missed reading the first couple of posts and started with a report from one of the competitors (Blackisler). The location was given as Huntly, which I didn't associate with Craig Castle. If anyone would like to buy me a book on scottish sporting estates for christmas my address is in the back of the newletter. _________________ My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.
A map will have to do do - the names are all on there.
Here's an aerial picture of the Castle and part of home farm, this being just a small part of the estate which consists of half a mountain, a grouse moor or two, a couple of forests, as well as a few hundred acres of farmland and pheasant hideout areas. John and I used to take the dogs up onto the Buck every Sunday afternoon, weather ignored - never really thought it belonged to anyone. Alistair said that he didn't object when I told him about that. Everyone does it he said. The dogs loved it and no cars or lorries for about 60 miles! Just miles of heather, lochs, deer, hares, rabbits, caper and woodcock - oh and a healthy number of grouse to chase too. Great fun! The snowy days were the best. 6 foot drifts at times, occasionally the Shogun didn't even get through.
