Maybe i didn't make myself too clear ... when it was mentioned that

working test in a format of training day?
Often this is done under KC ruling and even with a dog being on the working dog register, they would not be able to take part. When i registered Monet in this way there were too many events that he was still not allowed to participate in. In this case therefore, i was voicing a worry that there would be exclusions for non KC pedigree registered dogs.
My second point is to do with cost ... i agree that there are a few trainers who do not understand the HPR and people have to look for the correct trainers to suit their needs and often this includes travel... travel locally however, is different than travelling half way across the country.
If like me an event like this would cost in the region of £200 to attend, this would include... rail fare, B&B, food and social events etc. etc. Training like with like or paying for an experienced trainer, no competition really
Mind you it would be nice to meet a few of you and share a social event and it would be nice for Monet to muck about with other EB's
I believe that a 'rescue' aka an Activity Register Dog can enter a KC registered gundog event in the Special Beginners but a result would not be acknowledged by the KC - a moot point as Sp Beg is not a recognised class anyway. As a handler your dog could come first but you would not be awarded anything other than what the officiating club would award. _________________ Sue, Chase and the non-Brittany boys - Brice & Piper. I thought we were talking about Training Days? I personally can't see why an unregistered dog cannot take part in training sessions. An unregistered dog can go working - as a beating dog, as a picking up dog, with it's owner on a roughshoot. So it requires training. If a breed club can''t do this what chance has any other.
I see your financial concerns Sallie, but that is the case for anyone. Some people have cars and have to pay petrol and maintenance for their vehicles, others use public transport - I have the greatest respect for those because I won't go on buses and trains with dogs - just too much hassle for me. Coming to the training day will cost me about £150 in petrol, goodness knows how much in maintenance, £50 for the two dogs, and some meals for us on the way down and back, but fortunately Donald and I are staying with Jan, so little costs there. Handle every situation like a dog, if you can't eat it or play with it, just pee on it and walk away
We are talking about training days - someone put forward that a change to the day might get more people attending, and i agreed it would be a good idea....

My point was that working test are usually under KC regulations and just wondered how this would effect people who's dogs did not have pedigree papers... would they be excluded from the BCGB 'working test training day'?
I only used myself as an example of cost ... you know i don't attend so the argument was ... travel and expense incurred or use a local experienced gundog/hpr trainer, for ME there is no contest, i would use £200 on an experienced local trainer... not that i would dream of spending that much money out at anyone time!
The only thing i miss out on is the social event and Monet not mixing with other EB's...
Simple...Instead of a GWT type event, maybe a training day following GWT activities. Which would stretch some of the more avanced dogs: those who are further than just obedience?
I have had those thoughts for a while, especially once people have passed their TAN.
As for costs, many of us are in all parts of Britain and with the price of petrol/diesel, we are all affected ...( unless you have a company car!) and are in the same boat. It is a matter of choices.
When I see what Pat Hibbs does and with her ruck sack on her back, dog in tow, on the train, the bus, etc...and not very young either.
